Turbo Gs' in Hawaii?

I have a question about turbo G35s in Hawaii. I'm thinking about being stationed (navy) in Hawaii in the next few months. I have a 04 coupe with a ST and a VRT built engine. I was wondering if I would have any problems if I ship my car there? (DMV or FISC) I don't want to ship my car there to find out that I can't drive it because of my mods. Thanks for the help.

Technically the answer is no. You might get hit up for some other stuff like the drop on your car, if you have clear corners, and maybe the wheels depending on what your setup is. The areas you drive in will seriously affect the hassles you get about your car (like in Waikiki).........I avoid it like the plague when I drive my car.

Anyhow, check up in the link above and it should answer your questions.

Thanks for the info I plan on having coilovers by then anyway. I was there recently for RIMPAC and my car would bottom out on some of the roads and driveways there with a 1.5 drop if i bring it there.

Do you guys have any problems with haters (keying) or people breaking into your cars. I'm pretty sure it's just like anywhere else, but I had to ask.

anyone get harrassed with overlays? I have overlays on my clear corners W/orange bulbs and GTR overlays for the rear and headlights. The bulbs are not covered by the overlay so lighting is not affected. I think I may be close with that one.

Yeah there's always haters man.

Clear corners will get you pulled over. Again depends where you are. Certain places you will definitely have a good chance of getting ticketed.

I'm not sure about the overlays, again it's like the clears, just plain depends where you are driving.

should be no problem with overlays. On previous cars, I've sprayed on Nightshade on the tail lights, and have never been pulled over...not even in Waikiki. Clears - yes, you could be pulled over for clears, but most of the time cops wont bother unless you're doing something excessive, then the clear corner issue will just be the cherry on top.

actually, the overlays are illegal. and the newb hpd's will tag you for it. make sure you don't have tinted bulbs, as well. you can have clear bumper lense, just make sure amber light is emitted from the bulb. a grip of new officers are out in mega full force.

it's funny you mention that because i was very happy to see the force in waiks. there were lots of negatives going on, and they caught everything. not only on car related incidents either. great job. i did see the same old timers in the same spot i always see them though
