Did anybody change clutch olredy?

Did any of u guys/galz changed ur clutch olredy? my clutch is going bad olredy and the dealer was gonna charge me 900 buks for the clutch alone then they said they might need to change the flywheel too and the flywheel is 1800. i think it would be cheaper and better to buy race grade or something not from the dealer.

thanx.

Don't know much about pricing on clutches and all but in most cases you can just resurface the flywheel. For 1800 I'm pretty sure for that price you can get a decent clutch and lighten flywheel. Try contacting seth at sonics and ask him what the going rate for install is. I'm sure he can beat the dealer cost and he can get you the parts as well.

hey thats the same price they give me . my clutch and flywheel is bad too
i check the prices getting the clutch and the flywheel comes out alot cheaper when you buy it online. What they charge you is more for the labor.
check out stillen site. they got a good set act clutch and stille flywheel for like 1200

Good luck in getting a race clutch and flywheel. Depending on the specs, its going to be a lot noisier and engagement is going to be a bit tricky. It will be either on or off and going in stop and go traffic is going to give you one hell of a left leg work out. Hills will be a fun issue. Plus you do realize that if you get a race clutch...you cant just roll the car anymore right? You will need to rev that engine to about 1500-2000 to get it moving without all the chatter. With the newer HR and RevUp engines....it might be worse since they actually lost torque.

Unless you really need the added holding power of a race clutch...maybe a JWT will be more than enough. It is relatively affordable, dependable, and they sell it as a set combo as well. Plus everyone mentions that it is not as noisy and there is a lightened flywheel benefit as well.

Sonics might be a good choice to do the install.

How many miles do you guys have? It took me 63K before I had to change out the clutch. Of course...now I dont have to worry about that anymore.....

Give Sonic Motorsports a ring - 845-1192. Ask for Seth, tell him 636Racer/Chris Billete referred you. They're really good on prices on parts and labor. They have the experience on our cars...that's a big plus in my book.

yes, what david says is true. any time u upgrade to a race clutch, you lose the kiddy stuffs. noises are normal, but the grab is awesome. plus, the adjustment to the shifts are grrrrreat. try stage 3 w/ lightened flywheel on a 75shot 4 cyl!! it was totally worth it! i've driven a 2jz twin IS with a blitz carbon and that thing was noisy, hard to get used to......but it was super fun/fast/fizz!

If your looking for the exedy carbon clutch I know seth has one in stock. He was trying to sell me it lol. But if I remember correctly it is used but for very little. They had at shipped out and analyzed and it's basically 98% new.

I don't know if it was 3000 but it was super expensive and he was willing to sell it for way way cheaper then 3000. Hmm... maybe I should have picked it up.
