Oahu / Maui Honeymoon - Gs from the Aloha State

I'm having my honeymoon in Oahu and Maui this coming June. Have a few questions for you guys out there:

1. what clubs you guys recommend and which area of Oahu should we stay?
2. Nice & romantic restaurants you guys recommend (price is not an issue.............class and setting is very important)
3. Which hotel would you recommend?
4. How's the weather in June?

Thanks in advance. Perhaps, I'll even get a chance to meet some of the G owners out there!

Re: Oahu / Maui Honeymoon - Gs from the Aloha State

Hi! Congratulations! I really like the Sheraton Moana Surfrider Hotel. It's right on Waikiki Beach and the hotel is just beautiful. The Kahala Mandarin Oriental is really nice, too. But it's out of the way from many things.

Restaurant: I like Sarento's on top of the Ilikai Hotel (in Waikiki) for ambiance. Beautiful panoramic views of Honolulu, make sure you go at sunset. Oh, and coats are required there.

Weather in June should be sunny, hot and humid! Maybe mid to high 80s? Good luck with your planning!

1. Feme Nu? ^^ (club) / Oahu: Waikiki Maui: Kapalua (cooler there)
2. Oahu- Ono's, Sam Choy's, Shorebird
3. Any 5 star hotel. In Maui, The Ritz Carlton was very cool. They also had the best sushi bar. Fish was so fresh. Try the O'Toro sushi. I think it cost us $20 for 2 pieces. Not sure....charged it the room.
4. Still humid.

I'm sure some of the locals on this board can better answer your questions.

Places to stay:

Hawaii Prince Hotel
Ihilani
Hyatt
Marriot is nice too

Clubs?? What do you mean by this? As in night time activities. Ignore Wrecks response ;-) This is after your honeymoon not a celebration of divorce right? Just kidding you two.

Food:

Roys (most definitely)
Ruth Chris Steak House
Michelles
Chef Mavro
Sarrentos is good too

More will be coming in I am sure. Hang tight a little.

Holler when you get in,...I am sure a few of us can come out and meet you in your,......ummm,..errrrr.. ..rental Pontiac Sunfire. :-)

Lol I didn't think anyone would catch my club response. I still think the wife would dig that place. I know I did. It was like heaven on a good night. They could also try going to Roxa's(sp).

1. Oceans, the W, Pipeline
1b. Femme, Rox, Exotic Nights, haven't been to Penthouse, but it's supposed to be good.
2. Roy's, Alan Wong's, John Dominis, Sarento's, Hy's Steakhouse (in Maui, Longhi's is a must..but don't waste your time at Longhi's on Oahu.)
3. Ihilani or Sheraton Moana Surfrider
4. Weather is REALLY humid and hot. Bring sunblock or suffer severe consequences.

I stayed in the Ihilani honeymoon suite for two weeks, and let me tell you-- that place is BEAUTIFUL. Not as crowded as Waikiki, and the sun sets right on your balcony, as you're facing West on the western part of the island. Can't even see the shore below you-- just ocean. The private lagoon is very nice, and the whole place is rather elegant. Great restaurant downstairs, as well. It's a taaad on the expensive side, but in this case you get what you pay for.

Re: Oahu / Maui Honeymoon - Gs from the Aloha Stat

I've got to agree with everyone, 'Ihilani is beautiful if you can handle the cost. I also like Moana Surfrider. I stayed at the Royal Hawaiian for my wedding and liked the old hawaiian style decor and great staff.

For the restaurant, let me suggest L'Uraku in the Uraku towers. What they don't have in atmosphere, they make up for with great food. I also liked the food at the "W" for dinner before they turn into the trendy nightclub later in the evening.

I think June is the best time to come. Everyone says it's hot and humid, but not as much as August and it's great beach weather which is why you come to Hawai'i. Go take surfing lessons in Waikiki, kayaking in Kailua, and scuba diving on the North Shore. You will stay cool like all the locals.

Wow, thanks guys. I really didn't think I'd get this much input. That's a lot of good information. As for the club thing........we're down to go out drinking and enjoy the nighlife on the Big Island. Again, thanks guys! I really appreciate it.

Re: Oahu / Maui Honeymoon - Gs from the Aloha Stat

If price isn't an issue for the room as well, try the Halekulani, or the Kahala Mandarin Oriental where the President stays on trips to Hawaii, or even the W Diamond Head. The Ihilani is also a great place, however it's out of the way of a lot of things, but good if you're going to be just relaxing and want the peace and quiet. The Halekulani is right in Waikiki, but tucked away. It's a very exclusive hotel and it's restaurant La Mer holds a 5-diamond rating. I believe, the only 5-diamond rating in Hawaii.
