i know i've been kinda outta the loop for a while, but work sux, ya'll know how that goes! anyway, does anyone know a good place on the island that has good prices on wheels.......a place that won't try and screw you and say "well, we'll include the shipping price that you could get from the mainland" or some BS like that. just curious, cuz i haven't seen, or heard of any "good" shops yet. any help will be much appreciated, thanks!

I am looking myself n1ck. Tried a bunch of places.

In fact when I went to Eurosport they were searching on TireRack. Why would I go to them and not TireRack directly?

Anyway, if I turn something up, I'll let you know.

 

Before I give my thoughts.... what type and brand of rims are you looking for?? Certain stores are "authorized" reps and supposedly get better pricing than others. I have a few places in mind...but before I say anything a little more information would be good.

searching tire rack? i hope they weren't searchin on there for price comparisons, ha ha! that's pretty pathetic. and you're right, there isn't any reason to go to them if they have to check tirerack!

ps-i really hate it when they try and charge you the same as the price with shipping, and then take 2, 3, or 4 times longer to get it here! i've heard that a time or two...........

Maybe they were a local distributor for TireRack? I know there are several places down here where you can drop ship your TireRack stuff and these places will install.

Anyway, TireRack does not have anything I am looking for in rims, so they are out.

 

it's true that there are places where you could get stuff drop shipped from tirerack, but i don't think they're local distributors. as far as i know, everything comes from their warehouses on the mainland.

Sorry, shouldn't have used the word distributor. Probably more accurate would have been agent/dealer?

Anyway, I agree that their stuff gets shipped from the mainland warehouse.

As far as i know they are the ones that sell the SSR rims to tirerack... distributor? whatever you call it...

one thing that you guys could do is look on the internet for prices, bring the prices to the shop and see if they will give you a better deal .. if not buy it online ... makes life a bit easier at least you will have some bargining power

 

Yeah I had asked them about the SSR GT3's. The price was not lower than what it would have cost to buy directly from TireRack. Also the weight on the rims isn't less than that for my stock 18's, so I kind of decided to go the Volk or Nismo route.

 

as far as i know, the ssr gt3's aren't even made in japan anymore. they're the only ones made in america.
