did oil change yesterday- comments
what a POS jack that comes with the car
i suppose it is light, so it keeps the pounds off, but i would hate to try and use it by the side of the road
to take off the lower engine cover, you not only have to remove the 10mmm bolts that hold on the cover, but you also have to remove the bolts that hold on that rubber lower lip- was over TWENTY bolts and one plastic rivet
oil and filter R & R was pretty straight forward after that
did not install the fujitsbo valve, am likely not gonna change oil again unless i get a powered nut driver
oh, and the dipstick on our cars is one of the stupidest designs i have EVER seen
aloha

hahah! i changed mine last month and all i removed was 12 or 14 bolts. never had to remove all along the air dam (lip). i bought rhino car ramps from checkers and even with the shoes and Tein's on, she still climb without rubbing! i highly recommend you get the rhino's.

I've changed my oil twice already and am due for a third one shortly. Like sen_jen said, invest in the ramps. It makes the job so easy. I don't remove all the screws just the ones on the passenger side and just pull the plastic back.
Only problem I had was my kid climb in the vehicle and pressing the siren while I was under the vehicle..Ouch....

First time I did mine I took off the under tray, PITA....
second time around I just stuck my hand in the hole and wiggled it out that way. works fine, no need to remove the plastic piece. I would suggest getting a rag and stuffing it on top of the plastic piece since oil will drip all over it from the filter as you wiggle it around to get it out. All you need are the rhino ramps and you're set.
I used mobil 1 oil and a mobil 1 oil filter. dang that $hit is expensive.

Careful about using the synthetic stuff for the first 12K-15K miles. There might be issues in regards to the seals.

I've changed out the oil 2 times (5000mi currently)
sen_jen knows i got sources to get the job done quick.

IMO, clean oil is good oil...dino or syn.

yeah, I've seen those posts about running the first 10k on regular oil. but from the oil manufactures they all say that the new synthetics do not cause that seal problem anymore, the first generation products did have some compatability problems but the new ones are supposed to be ok. The way I see it, it's a damn pain to change the oil on this car and I would like to do it as little as possible, so that is the only reason why I switched...to extend my oil change intervals. To be safe I ran the first 5k on regular oil with a change at 2k. at 5k I put in the synthetic and will be doing changes at 5k from now on instead of the usual 3.75k. that way I only have to do this every 3 months.

Re: did oil change yesterday- comments
I agree that the seals would supposedly be set at the first 5k miles,....but I still was knocking valves and when I added about 3/4 quarts of oil the knocking went away and the engine got significantly quieter. Infiniti could not find anything wrong with the engine...and thus they speculated about the vavles and the oil issue. I still cant explain the almost 1 quart of oil being low. So unless someone pocketed 1 quart of the oil that I bring in.....my engine ate it somehow. Its not the gas since I use premium from Chevron or 76.
I can only give you my $.02 based on my experience...thats all.
Though I am sure that the switch to synthetic should be okay on a normal basis for the most part.

Dunno how you got yours up the rhino ramps...I have the Eibach springs and I can't get up the ramps to save my life. If anyone has any advice on extensions for the plastic rhino ramps, hook me up, pls!
I've been using a floor jack/stands to change my oil, but I have to drive onto 2x4's just to get jack clearance.
The oil valve works great, but I still question whether all of the oil is draining out or not.
