no cdr's?
I set up an appointment to have my cd player looked at. The service adviser (Jason) said that we're not supposed to play cdr's in our car. Is that true? He said its stated in the owners manual. He said they'll cover the first replacement but Im responsible for any other problems. Am I the only one using cdr's?
Re: no cdr's?
i have a z, but all 6 of my discs loaded are cd-r's. no problem with mine so far for the year i have had my car... knock on wood. i remember the 03 z's had problems with the discs getting stuck though.

I don't know about the cdr thing. The only thing I'm recalling right now is something in the manual about the types of cd's you can play being more related to shapes (stupid stuff like the cd cut into a star pattern or other really odd shapes).
I seem to recall also that they made referrence to the edges of the cd's being in a good condition. Maybe that's what they are referring to (that cdr's have a jagged edge rather than a nice clean one).

Re: no cdr's?
There was speculation that the CDR disks were just a hair thicker than the regular "production" CD'd. Thus in a 6 disk player where the trays and mechanisms were so close, that miniscule difference "might" cause the jam. Personally I think our CD players kinda suck,..but to change them would require that other JDM double DIN housing since the AC controls are attached, to be used. Another $800.00 part in addition to the new player.
Have been using CDR's as well...just using the slots from 1-4 though. Like I mentioned in another post, the 5th and 6th slots were the ones that I heard that CDR's got jammed in.

Re: no cdr's?
I only use CDR's and have had no problems (knock on wood). I do remember reading that the problems occur w/ CDR's that have labels on them. I guess the labels are what make them too thick, which starts messing things up. As long as you don't stick labels on your CDR's you "should" be ok. Then again, if they're not gonna replace the deck for you a second time it may not be worth it. Up 2 U, dude...

Re: no cdr's?
Thanks for the replies guys. The cdr's I used didnt have the sticker type labels on them. My problem isnt that its jammed, but just refuses to play any cd. I was able to eject every cd that was in there. When I put a cd in, the player tries to "search" for a track but cant play it. Maybe I should wait until the new mp3 capable decks on the '05 model come out. You think they will fit our cars?

I have the exact same problem you do. The player won't read any of my discs. Some of them are cdrs, while others are not. Won't read any now and no jamming.
