yes I think its very possible to pass. everything else IS illegal here or only legal if your within regulation specs and have a reconstruction permit. such as coilover suspension, springs that lower it below the regulation, hellaflush wheel fitment, clear corners, extra loud exhaust, bodykits that can't fit bumper support and foam etc. so it pretty much sucks to mod cars here. I think the only worse place right now to mod a car is cali.

Yeah I also think this could possibly pass. Just a few weeks ago my friend got pulled over for playing his music too loud in an all stock Ford Expedition. But as mentioned earlier, if this bill passes, a lot of car audio shops will go out of business. Our unemployment rate is already high enough.

I dont think any will go out of business, it doesnt make it illegal to sell, just to use. Exactly like test pipes. Nothing illegal about selling them, they will just have to put the *Only for off road use only" label.

Already many states already have it illegal to play loud music anyways.

I guess false floor setups will become much much more popular.

Hawaii car stereo dealers are encouraged to attend the hearing on the bill HB 1178 on Wednesday Feb 9th at 9:00AM in House conference room 309 and to contact your fellow retailers.

Update: You can submit comments on the bill by emailing TRNtestimony@capitol.hawaii.gov

yeah but a lot on installers make money on the installation and that part is illegal so it will end up putting them out. most people with systems couldn't install it if they knew how.

Maybe they can do at home installs instead of the shops. Kinda like a side job thing...

Still see no reason to have this law given the noise ordnance laws that are already in existance.

You can get a noise ticket with the base stereo in lots of cars. Alternately, just because you have a nice sound system doesn't automatically mean that you're going to offend people with it..

Fvcking country is going bankrupt and unemployment in is double digits and this is how our government wastes it's time.

Swell.
