Since most of the members here have some sort of aftermarket subs, speakers, decks, etc. I thought i post this bill that has been proposed by someone in the legislation.
Here is the link:

I really hope this bill DOES NOT PASS!!!

Wow this is completely stupid. Just Like ImaG said that is going to put out a lot of audio shops. and what dose that do for the people who have them already and spent a couple grand on a custom system. I love the weather and the islands but makes me want to move even more.
There are already laws for nosie violations and driver viewable video why go to the extent of dening aftermarket car audio. Esp when most factory stereos suck.

Ha ha ha. Talk about gay.
Trying to make it illegal to have any speaker with more than 100W and bigger than 6.5 inches.

dont really see this passing what so ever, like someone said before, unconstitutional. What person doesn't like a nice stereo system in their vehicle. Just some schmuck that doesn't doesn't have something better to do!

I dont see this passing either because like others said its unconstitutional . They tried a few years back in south beach to pass a law that if you can be heard from 100ft away you get fined... Which was pritty stupid. People argued (its the same case here too) .. What about exhaust system? What about these loud motorcycles? With all respect too every1.
Im a big bass head .. Im not from hawaii or south beach but if they ever tried something down here and it did pass i could care less it wouldint stop me. They can keep fining me lol.
A lot of bills are not actually put through anyways there just proposals this is just another one.

Man if this were to pass there would be some pissed off people. I know a lot of military have them and imagine shipping it over then finding out you can't have it or get fined on day 2 not knowing about it. I would flip out!!! This is very dumb but another way to make a profit here in HI.
There's no way.
Several cars come with bigger than 6.5" speakers from the factory and more than 100w.

This will never pass, and even if it did it is another useless law. What - are they going to establish check points to inspect sound systems?
Stuff may be illegal to purchase in Hawaii (if it passed) but anyone who wanted a custom system could get whatever they needed through other means.
The only way they'd ever bother with it is if the operator were already violating noise ordnances that already exist in every state (which alreday go un-enforced..)
Agree with Meatshackle's point as well.

unconstitutional yes, but we already have a current law that states that if you can be heard from 30 feet away you get fined, and they do enforce it about 50% of the time here. we also have to get reconstruction permits and they will ticket people for loud exhaust, bodykits, drop etc. that is pretty heavily enforced especially in downtown.Originally Posted by atoor1990

I wouldnt say it is not possible. I have seen states that have made it illegal to put aftermarket exhaust or suspension on your car.
