I dont think any do it free anymore, but theres a way it can be done without the tool if you search. I think if you turn the key to ON position the CEL will blink according to the code. Ive done it before but dont remember how exactly.

^interesting thanks. will look for it. i tried this method i found but doesnt seem to work
1. Turn the ignition to the “On” position, but don’t start the car.
2. Wait 3 seconds.
3. Press the pas pedal to the floor 5 times within 5 seconds.
4. Push and hold the gas pedal down for 10 seconds. After 10 seconds the Check Engine light will start flashing.
5. Count the flashes. The light will flash in four sequences with a pause between each sequence. Ten flashes equals the number zero and the other numbers are obvious. The flashes will give you a 4 digit code such as 1456.
but the procedure for clearing the ses light via the gas pedeal worked

ah ok after more research the procedure to clear is also the procedure to get the code read out jus only do half of the steps (up to step 4). i never did it yet but from wat im reading thats wat it looks like

1. Turn the ignition to the "on" position
2. Wait three seconds, then press the gas pedal (very hard) 5 times within 5 seconds
3. Release your foot from the gas peddle for 7 seconds
4. Push the gas pedal down for 10 seconds (SES Light should start to blink)
5. Release the gas pedal for 10 seconds
6. Push the gas pedal again holding it down for 10 more seconds
7. Release the gas pedal and turn the ignition to "off"
8. Start the car, your ECU should now be reset.
