help supercharger choices!

hello everyone...Im pretty much a noon at g35's

Drove a Subaru before.
the question I have is what supercharger should I go with for my 07 rev up g35?

I've heard things about tapped oil pan chargers & self-contained chargers...which is better & high rates now days?

Vortech v3 may be your best choice. It's self lubricating so there's no need to tap your oil pan. A safe tune pushing 9-10lbs boost will put you around 400whp if that's what you're looking for.

Oh yes I've heard the vortech used to have to tap the oil pan but now the new v3 is self-contained as well?

Diff between v2 & v3

Also I heard v3 once installed it's hard to pull out the oil dip stick & check the level...since it's blocked off.

v2 requires a tap into the oil pan. v3 is self contained.

I guess it's a little tougher. look at this pic for yourself.

doesn't appear any harder IMO.

Ok last thing I heard was the intake filter will get smashed & is hard to clean & replace.... It will become deformed after installment?

I advise save your money and go turbo. I had a vortec set up was loud on my revup and it was alot of maintenance. PIA to clean air filter, align piping (very tight). The serpatine belt well get loose pretty so often (Gates brand) Couple times I threw belt on the freeway loosing power to everything. Plus the power was ok with all bolt on possible (389whrp) 2.87 pully ... With turbo set up you have alot more torque and it's easier to up grade to boost/hp.

Depends on what you can afford and power level? Greddy 18g kit is good but is pricy and more for install. For single try look at Boosted Performance its pretty same price range as a vortec and has opitions for fuel and engine management, and future turbo upgrade is easier. Another plus if you have tools and mechanically inclined you could do the install.

How much you want to spend is the question? TT is going to be a bit more complicated to install (and therefore more $$$).

In general TT will have more low to mid range boost, and ST will have better high end boost.

If you give us a budget we can tell you if its doable or not. Although the SC's do lack torque, they are the cheapest form of FI and the easiest to work with. A single turbo obviously has less moving parts then a TT which is always a plus and both will easily provide the power on a stock block. There's also supporting mods that will be required that don't come with a "kit" so expect to spend more money there, along with the cost to install everything and have the car professionally tuned.

Start researching the subject. There's a lot of good information on this forum and even more on MY350Z.
