Big Island Questions

Going there for a wedding. I haven't been there since I was 8 years old.

What are the must do things when I go back there in July. I don't have to much time there. We probably have about 1.5 days of free time to do what we want.

Thinking about a helicopter ride over volcano park and the waterfalls or just hiking at volcano park (damm it seems like a long drive from Kona to get there). Will I actually see glowing lava, or just smoke? Anything else worth doing besides those two?

If it is snowing i'd go to the top of the mountain and check it out... I've always wanted to do that.

Yeah, i've heard of some people ski/snowboarding too...

As far as snowing in july i'm sure someone can answer that... Because of how high it is it's possible... The thing i'd be worried about is thin air and doing something like snowboarding.

Joepaniolo/Docron is the guy to talk to, he's over on the Big Island.

Yes you do get snow, but snow boarding is discouraged by the guys up in the observatory.

Deep sea fishing out of Kona
Diving
Golf (Mauna Kea, Mauna Loa, or Hualalai----if you are staying at Hualalai)

Very cool. If they don't see this post I'll PM them.

Deep sea fishing would be nice, but my buddy can't swim and fears the water.

Golf would be cool. I am staying at Mauna Kea Beach.. I wonder if the golf course is near by .

Joepaniolo/Docron is the same guy. Different handles in different forums.

Mauna Kea golf course is right next to the hotel. Sister course is across the highway and called Hapuna. Mauna Kea area can get very windy, if it is, go fishing. You can see Nicklaus/Palmer/Player in Big Three Golf playing on Mauna Kea 30 years ago....pretty neat.

Deep sea fishing is great off the Kona coast. It will most likely look like a bath tub (water very calm) since the mountains shield the tradewinds.
