Facking Vdc
I changed my tires this weekend.
235/40/18 in front and 255/45/18 in back.
facking VDC and ABS went off in the middle of Red Hill.
I down shifting from 6th to 5th. Upon depressing the clutch I had the wierd stutter that you get when youre loosing traction with the VDC engaged. I didnt thing anything of it then the VDC/ABS and SLIP light came on. I was already WTF. Pulled to the side, shut the car down...restarted it and the idiot lights were clear. I tried to re-emulate the the scenario over, nothing happend. I read that with "spirited" driving the idiot lights would reappear...I took the car in various areas I know I can slide the car around and the idiot lights havent appeared. Maybe the ECM relearned the tires?
I know it has to do with the speed sensors on each corner. I know that the VDC is linked to the ABS, since the work simultaneously. Dunno what to think or how to even start to go upon this. sucks. oh well...it shouldnt be a big deal right?
opinions and thought needed.

yah, same here.
whenever i get slide happy on the car, the fricken VDC/SLIP light stays on anyways.
I even tried a hard brake from 40mph, nothing...the car never locked up or lost control or had the idiot lights come on.
Now-a-days, cars are way too advanced than they should be.

OK, I'm still unsure about the stagger and how it will affect the VDC and ABS, but upon reading about the new tire "slick" coating...I've experienced the "slip" today in our parking lot. With light throttle, the tires spun over the smooth concrete parking isle. Till after about 300 miles, I wont know....rawr! sux0rz!
Looking over the specs that you provided, one thing that might be a little helpful is what brand are the tires? There are some differnces in overall diameter and widths in the same tire sizes from one company to another.
Anyhow, at a quick glance, it looks like you matched the overall diameters relatively well. Thus the stagger shouldnt really make that much of a difference as long as the wheel rotations are matched at a given RPM check point. Any more will trigger VDC with the ECU programming assuming that you are sliding somewhere.
Long time ago though, I did experience something like this as well. All 3 idiot lights went on and technically I had no ABS or VDC at all active. Did a reset and eventually all lights went off. Since then, nothing like that happened. Could have been a hiccup in the system.
The tire coating should come off pretty quickly. But, that could be a possibility as well.
Good luck.
