Tein Hood Dampers

I bought a set of tein hood dampers yesterday, but of course the don't have em for the G35, so I bought the ones made for the 350z. I tried to install it yesterday, and after installation when I tried to close my hood, there were some clearance problems. Looks like the lower ball joint of the damper was hitting the hood, so when the hood was closed, there was some gap between the hood and fenders. So I decided to take them out.

Has anyone been successful with this install before? What did u modify? the hood, or the ball joint? I don't really want to hammer my hood for the clearance, but just wanted to see what another G owner did to make this work.

Oh, and I noticed that when the hood was raised, it wasn't too high. Kinda ****.ty, but it looked hella nice.

Yes, I bought some off ebay, thinking they would work for the G. No luck, same experience you had. If you do come up with a solution, let me know.

I have this one on the back burner, but def interested looking at it...
Did you guys take any pics????
It would help so that I don't go down the same road.
If we could pool our experiences maybe this could be figured out.

mount them diagonally, from the firewall to the hood istead of the fender to the hood, it may look off, but function before form. that might work.

Thanks for the input.... that's good news
I think I'll wait too, no point reinventing the wheel
Then the only think I'd need to do is paint over that ugly green color

I think I'll drop them an e-mail expressing interest & mention
the interest here.... may help push them

^ true, but Tein took that in and developed one that aint too harsh. it would suck to have to replace the hood.
