new guy again
like i said i bought my g like 5 months ago and there was a clickin sound comin from wat i thought was the tranny anyways so i took it down to the dealership and dey said i have 12 bolts missin out the rear axle. sooo think i gotta good chance of demanding extended warranty?
12 bolts missing from where? Was it something that the dealers here did? Was it from the factory? Did it cause an irrepairable problem? Was it neglegence? IF so on who? Did it cause you or another party to get into an accident? Was it mission critical? Is it a part of the TSB jobs?
Too many unknown facts and too many assumptions. Granted there was an issue...but is it something that you can just demand compensation for? I dont know. My thoughts are if it is going to get tended to in a professional and safe secure way...then technically there is no real wrong doing as it did not cause an accident or failure of operation resulting in an accident.
If it came from the factory in that manner..then I dont think that that is something that you can go after the dealer for...unless that specific check was on the list of things to look at prior to a customer pickup or release to the sales lot. If it was a result of something that the service techs did...then that will be up to the management to decide on the correct proceedures to follow to insure customer good faith.
Dont get me wrong. I am not against you in a personal way or in any way for that matter. My point is that I understand that yes it is a safety issue.....yes it is un-nerving...but at the same time, if it didnt cause any safety issues (i.e. accidents, deaths, ets) then there really isnt a concrete ground to go after them. You will have to prove neglegence, gross misconduct, failure to protect the customers safety, and the result of the aforementioned due to negligence and/or misconduct etc. Without a resulting incident, the prior cause cant be pined on them unless they refuse to rectify and correct the known problem and then an accident happens as a result of nonrepair because of refusal of repair. Now if they refuse to service the vehicle and an incident happens...then yes you will have legal grounds. But, if they repair and fully service the vehicle and bring it up to safe and factory specified quality, then well....thats about it. You could voice your concern and dissatisfaction to the management level...but I think that that is about the extent that you can go.
Bottom line affect though is that if everyone demands extra services and/or free services for all the things that they felt that they deserved due to inconvience, complications, feelings of being offended, and any other reason that they can come up with..then the end result would be a car and services that most will not be able to afford. Whenever a company gives something to someone for free...think about it...who ends up paying for that "free' service or commodity? Everyone else. Yes even the person that got that one something for free...will end up paying for it in increased prices for future services. Everything in life is like a business transaction. There are costs in goods. Both visible and hidden costs. If everyone demanded things to be given free or compensated, then the employees and their families indirectly are affected.
I can see this post getting flamed...and I am seriously sorry and worried about your incident. But at the same time, as long as they correct the problem in a professional and satisfactory level of service...that is all that I would take it and leave it at that. Like I said...you could discuss the concerns with management...but to ask for free services at the known loss to the company, well........... That will just make everyone elses oil change inflate to $50.00 per change. Yes you can go to another place to tend to it....but then all the other employees that work there will now be affected by either lay offs or cut in future raises and/or pay. If you are in a business field...then you can understand this and the dynamics of how everything is related and interrelated.
Sorry, you asked for an opinion and got a book. Goodluck in getting that axel repaired and taken cared of.
