Unhappy Has anyone else sheared off their Coupes V-brace?

Yeah I was in Kailua on Sat and there was some construction goin on K-bay drive. Saw a metal plate and didnt think nothing of it until I went over it. I guess it was about 5 inches or more higher than I thought. Long story short, I messed up my V-brace. Went to the dealer for an estimate and they said they coundt fix it. Only a body shop can. Anyone on here have the same experince in busting their V-brace and what they did to fix it.

I totally sheared off the bolt that holds it on the passenger side. Part is only about $150 at the dealer but I have to get the mounting bolt welded. Suck. Let me know if you guys got any ideas? I was just gonna take it off completely but someone told me that it would have adverse affect on my cars haldling, is that true????

that handling may get sloppy feeling like. man, you should report that construction site. maybe get them to compensate (which is possible, but you'll have to wait decades to get the check). i'd say get the part back on, and weld the bolt. however, i'm sure a bodyshop can have a better fix for it.

V-brace? I must be concern about the 4 point ladder bar mod plan, haha expensive. As for the bolt, I had to get it from lowe's to replace my rear upper strut stud.
EDIT: Feel free to ask the true gurus xlrsn and 636racer.

i think this is it. but it won't help, you still should weld that bolt back on.

Thumbs down pics of actual damage!

Here are some pictures a little blury but they should work. I hope this clears up as to what I was talking about. V-brace I call it might actually be called something else? I just called it that cause it looks like a V from underneath. Thanks for all you guys help though.

looks like you didn't see the metal plate till you grazed it, and saw it in your rear view! i don't think you need to weld the bolt on. any bodyshop can fix that easily.
