Fog Light Bulb Upgrade PICs

Here are the pics of the new fog light bulb upgrades. I changed the fog lights to PIAA Super Plasma GT H4 bulbs and the clearance (parking) lights to PIAA Xtreme White 168 bulbs. Enjoy!!

nadz;
Great to see the pics. Distinct purple hue to the lights. Can you post pics of the high beams? BTW, I think I asked this before on another thread and didn't really get an answer, but are US G35s equipped with daytime running lights? If so, how do the bluish tinted lights look when running at the reduced voltage of the DRLs?

The US G's do not have DRL. With the proposed changes Trunk versus HID, who knows if that will change.

Re: Fog Light Bulb Upgrade PICs

Whoo-hoo, I finally got my hands on some SylvaniaSilver Stars. I figure they make the HIDs for others and they say the STs are the closest, so we'll see. When I get the chance, I'll install and post some pics.
Nadz, thanks for the heads up on the clearance lights, I'll have to get something to match. Are the Xtreme White 168s actually brighter than the stock, or are they just whiter looking or with a blue tinge? PIAA's website doesn't actually say anything about them having a higher equivalent light output unlike the H-4 info. I noticed some other brands that were quite a bit cheaper and wondered if they'd do the trick.
BTW, I was told that the Xtreme White H-4s are actually brighter than the Super Plasmas, though at a lower colour temp. Wondered if you heard the same thing or why you decided on the Super Plasmas.

Re: Fog Light Bulb Upgrade PICs

I thought that the Plasmas would be a better match but I think now that I might've been better off with the Xtreme Whites. Oh well. At least it gives me some excuse to upgrade the stock HID bulbs to 6000K. The only thing stopping me from doing that is the knowledge that I'll have to rip everything apart again. As for the Xtreme White clearance lights, as you can tell from the pics, they are much more of a whiter/blusih color. I think that they might be a bit brighter than stock bulbs but they definitely look a lot cooler at night than the stock bulbs. If you are gonna take everything apart anyways, you might as well. They only cost 15bux a set. Beware of other brands...I had some Hybrid bulbs in my old Xterra for the interior light and they said that they were xtreme whites. Well after a short time, they faded and became green and nasty. I think someone else posted a similar story under the thread for changing the interior lights. Incidentally, I also upgraded the interior light in my Xterra to PIAA Xtreme White bulbs and they are a lot brigher than stock and look much better. They didn't fade like the other ones. For all the bad stuff people say about PIAA bulbs, I've never had problems. I actually tried Sylvania Cool Blues and they burned out really fast. So I guess its just how you handle them and ultimately the luck of the draw. Hope this helps :-)

Re: Fog Light Bulb Upgrade PICs

Thanx nadz, I'll probably try the X Whites. They're about $20 CDN up here. I also tried the Cool Blues on the G and though they were a bit better looking, weren' t much brighter than stocks. Hopefully the great things I heard about the SilverStars are true. The H-4 (9003 ST) in the SilverStar is a new item, not yet listed on Sylvania's website, and have been VERY hard to get so far. I'll try to post pics before the W/E. Oh, and how about posting pics of your Highs?
Yuichi: Have you sat in your friend's Z and what do you think of the STs? BTW, how was Japan?

The X Whites for $20 per pair are the 168s that nadz mentioned for the clearance lights- not the H-4s. Call Sylvania 1-800-265-2852 for dealers in your area that might have the SilverStars. I was told that one of the reasons they were out of stock on the 9003 ST was that someone in the T.O. area ordered about 200 of them! Maybe you'll luck out.

Yes, PIAA has the X White in H-4. Costs about $120 CDN. They don't give a Lumen output spec on them but do give a Wattage equivalency ie. 60/55=135/125.
Sylvania doesn't yet list the 9003 ST on their site either as it's too new, but for comparison, take a look at the others listed. The STs are about $80 CDN a pair. I know that Sylvania has a very good reputation and stand behind their product.
I've heard both good and bad about PIAA, someone said on a Miata forum that he replaced one of his X Whites that burned out with a Sylvania Cool Blue and couldn't tell the difference. Disappointing for PIAA if true, Cool Blues are about $35 a pair.

Re: Fog Light Bulb Upgrade PICs

I was about to say. I had Cool Blues in my 2000 Xterra and when one burned out I replaced them both with Xtreme Whites and there was quite a difference.
