Re: headlight bulb change

Hey gordgee, can you also change the headlight bulbs while you're in there? I am thinking of ordering a pair of Philips Ultinon 600K bulbs but the changing procedure is what is stopping me right now. Since the headlights are so far up, do you think it would be possible to get access to them from the engine bay? That would be much easier!! :-)

Re: headlight bulb change

No Idea. I spoke with my service guy and he said that so far, he hasn't had to change any Xenon bulbs yet. You could try asking Neatis as I think he changed his whole system over. Looks like you have to access the assembly from under there anyway, and if you have to remove the whole unit, there looks like only one more bolt under the hood.

BTW, did you manage to take pics of your highs?

Re: headlight bulb change

Hey gordgee I got those pics of the PIAA fog lights on high beam. Incidentally, after doing some research about HIDs, I have come to the conclusion that I will not be upgrading my HIDs. Seems as if 6000K bulbs actually produce less lumens than 4100K bulbs, which are considered to be the brightest. So it's not worth sacrificing functionality over looks. Well, enjoy the pics!!

Re: headlight bulb change

Thanx nadz, but what I was looking for was something more 'in the beam' ie. from lower down so that I could see how it compares with the look of my SilverStars.
Someone else posted that the lumens decreases when you increase the colour temp beyond a certain level. Wonder why that is? I know that the original HIDs were 'yellower' in comparison with the present standard. It's also my understanding that most of the HIDs are manufactured by either Sylvania or Phillips. It's one of the reasons after speaking with the Sylvania people that I decided on the SilverStars. As I said, I'm very happy with the colour and brightness of the STs and would recommend them to anyone as an upgrade.
BTW, I did get Xtreme White 168s for the clearance lights. Thanx again for the idea.
