TopSpeed headers/Kinetix cats owners please chime in...
Hi, I just installed TopSpeed headers and Kinetix cats. I love the sound. Still not loud enough for me but I'll save up for exhaust. Anyway I digress...
I notice mechanic took out the heat shields along with the stock headers, and didn't put the shields back in!?? I asked him and he said that the TopSpeed headers don't have place to bolt them on. Is this true? He said it's OK to leave them out???
Secondly, the boomerang bracket that you first remove to get at the headers, he left that out too, saying that there was no place to bolt it on the Kinetix cats...is this also true?? OK to leave it out?
Don't have a good jack to get the car high enough to confirm. Can someone confirm?

I recently installed TopSpeed headers/Crawford cats on my car. My mechanic took off the OEM heat shields above the cats, as there was very minimal clearance with the cats. The boomerang does indeed need to be removed, as there is nowhere to mount it to.
Thanks guys. I feel much better. But isn't heat shield needed (otherwise why would they put it on stock)???
Will try to post up sound clips very soon. Honestly I thought it would be louder, but then again I am on stock exhaust ('06 6MT).

Just let you guys know. Please carefully check your headers before installation. One of my Topspeed header was not perfectly welded, which would cause leaking, but the mechinc found out before installation. Right now, my Crawford cats were cracked by accident so need to check every part of exhaust system.

I just got the ECU scanned today because my check engine light has been on and off for almost one month, really annoying. The code is P17xxx(can not remeber what exactly the number is),fule system lean bank1. According to Doug in Crawford, the sensor in front of Crawford cats, on the header, detected abnormal status and sent the signal to ECU. Combined with recently heavy gasoline smell same as caused by my previous test pipes and much more raspiness, I suspect that something wrong with some parts of exhaust system. TS headers have been on my car for about four monthes so far. I have booked a oppointment with a shop for complete inspection for exhaust system. If I do not have any leaking problem, we will take the whole system apart then reassemble again then see what is the consequence. If my car dose not get any better, I will finally replace TS headers with other brand. This problem causes that the exhaust tone significantly changed above 3000RPM. I miss the sound when I do not have this problem. My car sounded like ferrari F360 Stradale, especially in tunnels,I love that kind of tone, but right now, I do not have the "ferrari">_<
