The way I see it that for the non revup engine, the spacer and the mrev2 give more or less the same increase, the mrev2 may give 1 or 2 ft/lb more. But the reason i went with the mrev2 is that with the core exchange the price is half that of the spacer ( cost me only 122) and its even more of a stealth mod. If there is no core exchange, the mrev2 costs 2x the spacer for that 1-2 hp increase, which makes it a easy choice.

What mod gives better MPG, the 5/16" spacer or the MREV2 on the non-revup engine?

Also, I was told that the MREV2 was designed for the non-revup and the revup engine, but the previous MREV and MREV + were made for the revup engine. Doesn't the MREV2 give must as much benefits to the non-revup engine as it does to the revup engine?

I havn't attempted to measure changes in fuel consumption so I can't comment on that.

MREV2 will indeed make a lot more gains on the REVUP engine both HP and TQ. It is definitly best to use a spacer with it on the REVUP.

On the NON-REVUP it makes about half as much, but the "average" gains are still a little more than the spacer.

MREV2 with the spacer produces unusually high NA gains on REVUP engines.

You will like the feel and sound of your car when you get the MREV2 in.

'04.5 6MT Coupe here - no dyno proof but after adding MREV2 to my pre-existing spacer my car felt much stonger in the mid range RPM's through 4th gear. I did the Copper ISO-Thermal upgrade at the same time and did an ECU reset since you need to disconnect the battery to be safe.

I know what all the posts are saying about maybe running lean, and that it would be better with a tune, etc. I'd agree about the tune getting more out of it but I don't think my car is running lean. I'm sure it's running stronger than it was before.

I have both on my G35 and 350Z with excellent results.

Throttle response is significantly improved too.

Where did it say that you have to disconnect the battery "just to be safe" while installing a spacer????

Not in the Motordyne directions, that's for sure.

What is the theory behind the copper ISO-Thermal throttle body spacer anyway? My brother is an Infiniti tech, and he basically made fun of the thing.....???

Just wondering.

The MD directions I have says you should disconnect the battery. That's absolutely required if you're going to diconnect the TB connector if you want to avoid a re-learning. If you're just doing a spacer then it's a good precaution. Takes all of 2 minutes - you will have to re-program radio but that's a small inconvienience. You don't want to learn the hard way.

The copper TB spacer isolates coolant flow from the plenum and only heats the TB. I'm sure it has marginal benefit but
is the best way to avoid the manual control valve for those that live in the colder cliamtes.

Either you didn't disconnect the TB to install the Copper thermal plate, or you got lucky..

For just the spacer it's a precaution, not a requirement.

So Tony, what's the real deal with the "running lean" argument? Sounds like this guy was okay with a simple ECU reset - not a reprogramming or flash. I'd buy both for my 03 6MT if an ECU reset was sufficient, but I'd just get the MREV2 if you think it's dangerous to go without ECU upgrades. Thoughts?
