Injen or Stillen
I am seeing all these posts that so and so put an injen intake on their car and sos and so put a stillen intake on their car. Stillen says 11 hp and Injen says 14 hp. Which one is better? I hope you say that the Injen is better because I just put that on my vehicle a couple of weeks ago. I want the most horsepower possible out of an intake. Did I make a bad purchase?
Re: Injen or Stillen
The injen does sound more aggressive, but I'm worried about the debris it picks up since it's so low to the ground.

Re: Injen or Stillen
lol..., I actually on the same page right now, Injen or Stillen ? ;p from what I read :
350z duct + Stillen
Pros: Stealth look, less prone to dust, debris and water collection, easier to clean the filter.
Cons: A bit more expensive than the Injen, some people don't like the stealth look, a bit less HP gain then the Injen.
Injen
Pros: more aggressive look, produce "meaner" sound, gain a bit more HP, cheaper then the Stillen-350zduct combo
Cons: theoretically, most likely to be true, the air filter will get more dust, debris, and water suction. Some people claim to experience problem like engine stalling.
PLEASE people I know my ASSUMPTIONS are not 100% correct, so please please correct my mistakes

Re: Injen or Stillen
I have the Injen on my sedan, I love it. I've never ever had a bit of engine stumbling or idle problems, no matter the speed. As I've said before I've ran the car to 145mph twice, dumped the clutch and coasted down to 80mph, idled normal, not a bit of movement from the tach. Love the sound at WOT.

Re: Injen or Stillen
You could be different and go with a Weapon-R Cold Airbox Intake System, which dyno results show outperforms the all major competitors (if you like to believe everything you read), or you could be really different and throw down with a Gruppe M carbon fiber intake system...I'll never put any cash into Stillen's hands, and I bailed on Injen a while ago...

STILLEN ALL THE WAY!!
I debated for months on this. I went to the pro and cons also..There are PLENTY of threads on this topic..
Stillen -
1. The 350z tube is plastic doesnt conduct heats as well as the metal ones.
2. The intake tube is shorter makes easier to pull air
3. Takes advantage of the stock ram air witch IMO is a very good setup.
4. With the high flow box and the stock ram air piece cold air plus forced air flows well into the filer.
5. Nice big cone K&N air filter.
6. Dont have to worry about dirt, water, or anything else
7. It is easier to install you dont have to cut the foam
So thats my story and im sticking to it

Re: Injen or Stillen
I just put the Stillen intake on my car an hour ago. The car sounds absolutely awesome. Car seems to rev more rapidly when at WOT, especially between 4,000 and 5,500. The one hitch in the install was the bottom bolt which was an absolute b**ch to get threaded. I'm VERY happy with the end result.

Re: Injen or Stillen
My beef with Stillen is that for years they've had sub-par customer service and tend to have a real attitude...They refuse to admit it when they're wrong, and they act like it's the customer's fault when there's a problem...Stillen can kiss my ***...If you're providing a service you need to provide excellent customer service...I'm the kind of customer that will recommend you to everyone that will listen to me if you treat me with respect, but if you fail to do that and disrespect me I'll go out of my way to keep money from reaching your pockets...I'll pay for service, and I think it's a company's responsibility to develop good relationships and treat their customers the right way...I'm not saying bow down and act like I'm superior to you, just treat your public with common, mutual respect...Gruppe M has stayed in touch with me during the development of their CAI for the VQ35 and last week sent me an invite to check them out in Germany at the trade show up there...I'm not going, and I probably couldn't go if I wanted, but that was just an extra step they took (without me ever purchasing anything from them) to make a possible customer happy...I respect that...Your customer service reflects the business you're running...

Re: Injen or Stillen
I agree with infidsg35. The reason I chose the Stillen over the Injen are for those very reasons. I didn't want to deal with all the problems I'd heard about the Injen. I like the way it looks but it doesn't have any benefit over Stillen. I don't think anyone has posted dyno info that would show any diff.

Re: Injen or Stillen
The more intake vendors the better, eh? Some competition in the market may bring prices down. Personally, the one reason I really like Stillen is that is adds onto the stock intake system. I'm sure the Power Duct isn't the best intake in the world, but it looks like it's designed well. I hope more intake ventors find some way to integrate the existing intake into theirs. The more air the better!
