Hey Earl -

I'm not trying to Flame you - really I'm not - I never have done that!

Just curious though - I see you have about 35 posts and just joined the board last month - what's your experience with mod and these cars etc?

The advice you gave, is sound - to get more than one opinion - especially if the opinion is just from someone who is not respected - new - not really knowing what they are doing or talking about - I get that completely. It just seemed out of left field from a seemingly 'newbie'.

Again - not flaming at all - please understand my curiosity, as you didn't give any other suggestions. I'd love to have, and have many great conversations on this board, and just want to know when we'll have one and possibly about what?

BTW - I do know we've had a few chat's and emails already - just seemed like a weird comment without any other suggestions - that's all.

Rick

so what do you guy feel is the best plenum out there, are there really major dif. in some of these other than price, i.e. MD and Crawford? how do you feel about the 1/2 md spacer? I will def. be doing this soon i would think the gains over all might make me get the 1/2 over the 5/16 unless the mrev2 and 5/16 combo is yielding better preformance.

So right now its one of the above, z-tube w/K&N and the grounding kit from gord. Just need some imput from those of you that have either the MD or Crawford or have had both ; )... im just not all that big on buy'n then try'n u know....

If you want the most performance, the 1/2" spacer does it - but you'll loose the engine cover.

The Stillen CAI is the best - over the K&N drop in - spend that money now and never go back.

Rick,

Surely you aren't suggesting that Earl, due to the fact that he does not have a lot of posts cannot be qualified to give advice? Ergo hoc proctor hoc?

You're an extremely bright guy and extremely knowledgeable, but I think that Earl is wise in suggesting that a new person, or any person for that matter weighs many opinions.

NOT AT ALL - my post is VERY clear and does not imply that - I was being very clear about that.

I am just trying to get to know Earl - see what Earl may suggest as well other than just saying get a 2nd opinion, which I clearly agreed with as well - nothing more - nothing less.

In fact - Earl and I have had some very good posts back and forth together on other threads - I have no problems at all - just wanted to hear more from him because I know from past threads he usually does....which was the surprise.

I hope that clears things up...sorry for the confusion....

Here's the thing -

You get a performance and noise advantage from the Z tube. So why not get it as well? It completes the CAI install. I really think that's where Stillen fell short in their CAI - they should have gone all the way up to begin with.

Having said that, I have a Z tube ans K@N panel filter in mine. No notice of power from that at all........... as well as sound. Had Injen on my last VQ and it was loud, so at least you'll sound faster. After up front, get rid of those nasty cats!!!! Remember if you put more in up top, you need to get rid of it out back. Then I would do a nice exhaust. Yeah Rick has a nice system but there are a couple more out there that are compariable. I guess you'll have to listen to decide what you really like. As far as headers go, I had them on my VQ and I did loose a little down low but gained up top for sure!!! You could tell it was sluggish until around 4K but after............ the thing didn't stop pulling. To be honest it was scary the first time I let it rip. Thought it was never going to stop!!! LOL After that, do youself a favor and get a lightweight flywheel and clutch combo. Spin Spin Spin Spin.......... It was fun!!! It frees up that low you might have lost by opening up the back end. Hope it helps.

Oops.............. my bad. I forgot the AT part. I don't know about Gords wires but the VB mod for AT's are supposed to be real sweet. There is a video clip on the old nissan forum I belonged to and talk about quick firm shifts!!! OK Now hope it helps.
Can you guys give some more info on this "VB" mod and the grounding kit please? I have an 05AT and would love to have it shift faster.

I love it...the best combo out there...most HP and TQ gain hands down. If you love your engine cover though....you'll want the 5/16 spacer.

I too am in the same boat, I've decided its time to start modding my 04 6MT, and i was thinking about intake and plenum, so if i get the MRev 2, that is the lower part of the intake right, so i could also put Crawford Plenum on top or would it be better to get the Mrev 2 with a 1/2 spacer?
