where should I start???
Whats up thanks for reading my post and any info you can give me... I've been lurking a lil while just reading.
I recently got into a 03.5 at coupe with 35k on it. Im looken at where i should start with my engine mods, FI really is not somewhere i want to go, right now im looking to get the most bang for the buck but that doesnt mean that im cheep ; ) quality and strength come 1st!
So i was wondering what you might have to weigh in on about where I should start, Should I get spacer (whats up with the Mrev2? any good for my ride or what?) if so 5/16 or 1/2 from MD... I was thinking of starting there or even the utec... so please fill me in on some info thanks much!

i'd go with a exhust, maybe just the catback and y pipe for now. Also maybe a z-tube and filter or a CAI. Also definitly motordyne 5/16th spacer combined with a MREV modifed lower plenum.
anyhow pm me if you want a MREV+spacer i've got one for sale.

I'd go with a z-tube plus K&N filter combo package for around $112 from www.everythingg35.com and get Gord's grounding gear (10 wire) for $148 shipped. Good luck with your modding and get ready to put a hole in your pocket. Welcome aboard!
best bang for the buck is def headers and then test pipes.........after that prob exhaust and then plenum

I don't mean to tread on your space TRU but I gotta:
Headers will do you no good unless your going for and SC or wildly modded NA car - and you shouldn't even put them in until then.
You will loose TQ and gain VERY minimal HP - and for the cost - not worth it...and yes I have headers...but look at my build.
If you really want to know where to start - get the car breathing - intake and plenum mods.
I forget as I write this - but for MT - do the lightweight flywheel and put a better clutch in it. For AT - do Ground wires and get that thing shifting quicker and revving more responsively.
Maybe do gears for the MT - 3.92's are much cheaper for MT's than AT's. This is a picky mod though - depends on what you REALLY want from your car and your budget overall.
Then, while your doing all of that work - listen, listen and then listen to more and more and more cars with exhaust systems and pick the one you like the best. Don't choose anything someone else tells you to get...you'll end up buying several systems and wasting lots of money - and this is coming from a guy who sells an exhaust system!!!
After that - you've done the basics - bolt on city has been done. Now if you want more from your car than the potential of 50+HP after a tune and those mods, then you have to plan completely different.

You might want to do more looking around and get more than one opinion.
Just remember that the VQ is chocked off. You need to let it breathe. I would probably do a spacer or crawfordz plenum up front. Don't really waste your time with an intake. Having said that, I have a Z tube ans K@N panel filter in mine. No notice of power from that at all........... as well as sound. Had Injen on my last VQ and it was loud, so at least you'll sound faster.
After up front, get rid of those nasty cats!!!!
Remember if you put more in up top, you need to get rid of it out back. Then I would do a nice exhaust. Yeah Rick has a nice system but there are a couple more out there that are compariable. I guess you'll have to listen to decide what you really like. As far as headers go, I had them on my VQ and I did loose a little down low but gained up top for sure!!! You could tell it was sluggish until around 4K but after............ the thing didn't stop pulling.
To be honest it was scary the first time I let it rip. Thought it was never going to stop!!! LOL After that, do youself a favor and get a lightweight flywheel and clutch combo. Spin Spin Spin Spin.......... It was fun!!! It frees up that low you might have lost by opening up the back end. Hope it helps.
Oops.............. my bad. I forgot the AT part. I don't know about Gords wires but the VB mod for AT's are supposed to be real sweet. There is a video clip on the old nissan forum I belonged to and talk about quick firm shifts!!! OK Now hope it helps.
