Z-tube on rev-up motor?

Hi, I am new to these forums as i just purchased a 05 4dr 6mt w/ prem pack in DG. I have been browsing these forums the last few days and i think i remember reading somewhere that part of what makes the rev-up engine what it is, is the stock intake pipe. I am considering getting either a pop charger from JWT or possibly just droping in a K&N hi-flow filter after reading how minimal the gains are from an intake on the VQ. Any advise, input? Should i take off the stock piping and replace the whole intake with a aftermarket z-tube and short ram? I want to stay away from cold air because of the water risk / power gained is not a very good ratio. Just got some tint put on yesterday and waiting for the adhesive to fully dry before i take some pics of my bone stock G .

previous ride was a 98 mitsu eclipse gs-t (cc headers, hi flow cat/resinator, downpipe, custom 2.5" piping, dual tip DTM style muffler, turboxs bov, injen intake, 17" 5ziggen wheels, turboxs turbo timer, turboxs boost controler, venom cams, few other bolt ons)

Stillen CAI w/ Z-Tube all the way... also if you want to get a lilttle more power from the intake you should consider getting an MD plenum spacer..Good luck and Congrats on the G

Actually, I would read around the fourms a bit. I was going to go the CAI but there were a few dyno's that suggest that this can actually hurt HP on the 05and 06. Personally I think your better off with a K&N drop-in and a Z-Tube. If you want real gains, go with the MREV. Again search on this, and draw your own conclusions.

i think im going to go with your recomemedation i went to my local kragen and ordered a k&n drop in for under $25. i was reading about the mrev and mrev2 it looks like the mrev comes with a 5/16" spacer at a cheaper price than the mrev2 with no spacer? i am kinda prematurly making this post because i havnt done all that much research yet, but from what ive got so far the mrev might be a better deal than the mrev2 (is it just an older model)?

But if you get the MREV, you don't get the full benefit from the MREV without a intake like the Stillen.

I can't comment on the MREV + CAI, the only dynos I saw was a stock motor with and without the CAI.
