stock intake w/kn and z is awesome!!!

HOLY ****!!!....ok i took out my pop charger and left in the z tube to put in my stock intake with a k&n...all i have to say is what a difference!!...i was worried that the pop charger took in too much hot air (i live in south texas...its like 100 everyday)..so i replaced with stock intake...the car pulls so much harder...its like more air is coming in...no more loss of torque issues...my car pulls hard!!...so just an fyi...put that stock back on..its amazing...the only thing i dont like is my exhaust is so quiet now...and i can hear backfiring and stuff in my exhaust...do you think that just changing the intake would cause ping and detonation..i hope not...and if i add hfc my sound should be deeper and meaner right??...

you had problem with heat soak. that's why. You might benefit from heat-wraps as well. they dont look pretty, but where you live, that will save your life and gas.

I noticed that too. When I got the popcharger, I installed it and it looked and sounded great, but when the engine warmed up, it seemed like it ran sluggish. One time I opened up the hood and felt around the intake. The air seemed pretty cool, until the fan kicked on. I nearly burnt my hand from the rush of hot air from the radiator and fan. So the popcharger does indeed allow that hot air to be taken in. I put back on my stock airbox and everything was back to normal.

I really want the popcharger in there though. It looks good and sounds even better. I'm going to try to make a custom airbox for this thing. See if I can improve on the popcharger.

I still think that a nice CF version of the OEM ram-air duct and airbox would be a hit. Better insulation properties, way better looks and better induction noise. If it's smooth inside and designed properly, it might add a small gain all by itself. It would certainly increase sales of existing the CF G-tube.

Seems like I've seen them produced for the EVO and some BMWs. The G's a ripe crowd for something like this.
