The Butt Dyno is pleased
I installed these items yesteday. It took me about 3 hours, but I cleaned the bejesus out of the engine compartment too, plus my halogen work light blew so I had to use a flashlight when I was putting it all back together.
Everything turned out great though. No stripped threads or broken bolts, nothing fell into the engine, and I even remembered to put loctite on the bolts BEFORE I started tightening them down.
Further, I did the EASY ECU reset (i.e. disconnect the negative battery cable while I was cleaning up
), then did the TPS zero throttle reset, fired that beeotch up, and didn't get a single code on the hour long test drive I took.
I also cleaned up the carbon buildup around the TB butterfly which is just good maintenance.
The only issue I had was with the fitment of the Z tube. It doesn't seem to fit exactly like the OEM tube does. It's kinda stretched out a bit at the accordian. When I tighted the clamp to the back of the MAF sensor, I actually noticed a small tear! Fortunately, it didn't seem too deep, but I packed some black RTV silicone sealant in there just in case.
The engine growls a little more now throughout the RPM range. At WOT, it is very pleasingly louder & meaner sounding than stock.
I cannot wait until I get the Topspeed headers (which currently reside in a box in my office - Thank you PhxBlue!!) installed. I was going to wait until next weekend, but I'm not sure if I can make it that long. :toetap:
Anyway, I'm about to run up to IHOP and fetch breakfast for the wife and I. I'm sure it'll be fun.

If you mess with the butterfly on the throttle body (how else are you supposed to clean behind it??), the "highly sensitive, calibrated electronic sensors" can get knocked outta whack. So that the ECU knows what zero throttle input is, you have to tell it, through this procedure, what zero throttle is. Remember, this is a drive-by-wire throttle, i.e. no throttle cable from the pedal to the TB.
All you do is ensure that the gas pedal is not depressed (that poor, poor, pedal - maybe we could give it some Prozac
) turn the key to "ON" for at least 2 seconds, turn it "OFF" for at least 10, then repeat. Now your car knows when you are not applying any throttle.

So I'm a week into having the spacer and tube installed and I'm happier with them now than when I put them on. I am all
whenever I'm driving my car and especially when I romp on the throttle a little. If all goes according to plan, I'll be installing the headers on Monday by myself (case of beer goes to whoever wants to help
). I'll let y'all know how that goes.
