Motordyne ISO thermal spacer...

I live in cold climate (Quebec). Would it be a problem if I just installed the basic spacer instead of the ISO Thermal one?

why would you have a problem with the basic plenum spacer?

Basic plenum...

According to Motordyne, w/o the ISO Thermal Spacer, this is the consequence:

>>Keeping the throttle body heated prevents ice formation on the throttle ?>>body butterfly valve when driving in cold weather. If it snows or gets >>really cold in your area, get the Copper Iso Thermal.

No, you will not have any problems with the basic spacer. The problems come into play when you do the "iso thermal" pieces. The intention of the "iso thermal" parts are to keep your plenum cool by installing a gasket beneath the lower plenum that does not conduct heat. When the gasket is installed without the other components, your throttle body could freeze in colder weather because your throttle body is not getting any heat.

With the basic spacer, there is no iso thermal gasket and as a result, your plenum temps remain the same with or without the spacer and thus no change or impact on the throttle body. In summary, the basic spacer will not cause you any problems.

Would you be better off installing the gasket under the plenum and not the CCV value? or would the copper heater be best since all you really need to heat is the butterfly valve?

You want to keep the Plenum cool, and warm the throttle body during the winter to prevent icing. The CCV or the coppoer TB heater are additions to the Intake manifold gasket..probably providing minimal differences. You can go with just the thermal gasket under the plenum and forget about the CCV if that's what you're asking. In my opinon though, why not maximize eevreything you do...and add the copper TB heater so that you don't have to remember to turn the CCV valve on or off. If you were in a consistently warm climate, you wouldn't need the TB Heater, as you'd likely close CCV all of the time.
