Exhaust/Test pipe question.

well i just got my exhaust and i put it on "intimidator exhaust" i think its great, but on the other hand i think it has so much more potential to be louder,i didnt get test pipes..i actually really dont know what they are..and what they do..i was told they would make it even louder and have even better perfomance.,but at the time i couldnt afford to get them so i just stuck with the orginal. so my question is if i just take the mid pipe out that has a huge catalytic converter betweeen it "magnaflow" and just have my shop striaght pipe it. will it get the sound im desiring..? will it make it louder and open her up more? are the "test pipes" striaght pipes?

Your mid-pipe does not have a cat in it. It has a resonator, this is for sound purposes only.

A "test pipe" and a "straight pipe" are the same thing, just diffrent name. These are the names given to a pipe that replaces the cat.

Our cars actually have 2 cats, one on each side. Yes, replacing these cats with an open pipe will increase power and sound. However it might give you a rasp, which is undesired. Get resonated test pipes to help reduce the rasp.

Dude - don't do that!!!

The Magnaflow unit is an x-pipe!! It balances the exhaust and helps give it the roar you love so much - and make sure you don't get rasp or anything like it - no trumpeting or ricing out.

Our cars don't have 2 cats - they have 4 cats - 2 per side. There is a pre and post cat. Resonated testpipes or our new high flow cats replace your stock cats. You end up with an additional 8-10 HP and 9-11TQ and MORE sound. The testpipes will give you the most sound of the two options.

If you chop the system up, you will so unhappy. Don't be afraid to call us.

Rick

will test pipes do anything (power? sound?) with stock exhaust?

oh..and why are they "for off road use only?" is that something manufacturers/sellers just have to say? would i be okay using them on the streets?

sorry to steal the thread

Yes, on the stock exhaust, you will still have some gains. It sounds a tad louder than stock, but keeps the stock exhaust not, sounds good to me, IMO!

They say for off road use only, because it is illegal to drive on any public streets without a cat. And in SoCal, we are emissions **** of the US.

Our resonated testpipes give 9HP and about 10 TQ on a stock car. Sound increase is a bit deeper and at WOT more roar.

Your first statement is right on track...sorry for the pun
