Stillen Hi-Flow
I am purchasing the Stillen Hi-Flow Airbox and I can only find it at stillen.com for $260. Has anyone found it cheaper or know of another place to purchase it? How about a group buy? Let me know!

Re: Stillen Hi-Flow
I beleive it was either MotorTrend or Car and Driver this month that has an article on modded 350z's. They tested the JWT pop-charger and said it was cheapest ($120) AND prduced the biggest gains...anyone else read it?

Re: Stillen Hi-Flow
why do you want the hi-flow? havent you read all of the recent posts saying how bad it is? with little gains in HP and loss of torque. plus the chance of stalling at high speeds. this is beginning to look like a shady product IMO.

Re: Stillen Hi-Flow
So prof...how does K&N differentiate it self from injen and especially Stillen. I really would like to why you are so harsh on this product? I infer from your post, sorry if I'm wrong, but you nor anyone else has had problem with the K&N?
Re: Stillen Hi-Flow
Sorry nuttyprof, but I have to disagree with you. Stillen has one of the best and safest products out there for the G. The only stalling issue I have heard of was with a 5AT which turned out to be a bad ECU. I have owned this product for over 7 months and have not had one problem. There are however numerous documented reports of stalling with the Injen product on this board. Please do not bad mouth a product without supporting evidence. If there is a thread with actual supporting evidence that this is an unsafe, then please reference it. I do not want an unsafe product on my car.
BTW, whatever happened to K&N's setup that you were testing? Are they ever going to sell one for the G35 and when?

actually, the K&N i have is the only one out there, so there have not been enough people who have tested it to say it is either better or worse than the other intakes. however, i have had no problems with it.
The in-jen intake, has given many people many problems such as stalling. i have heard of no water getting sucked into the engine and only of concerns that dirt would get sucked in, but nobody has actually posted that it happened.
as for the stillen, which i was considering at a time, here is a post showing a loss of torque with little to no hp gain: http://forums.freshalloy.com/ubbthre...e#Post67552484
and here is a post about the stillen making the g stall: https://g35driver.com/forums/showfla...sed&sb=5&part=
i know there have been a couple more posts about this, but these are the recent ones. i am not just making stuff up without any supporting reference.
as for the K&N. it is supposed to be released sometime soon, but i have no idea when. i actually took mine off today and noticed that my car is noticeable slower and the stock sound is so boring i wanna rip a hole in the filter.

NuttyProf,
I, like mbarrad, have had the Stillen HiFlow intake for some
time with NO problems at all. Don't know why you insist on
badmouthing a product you don't even own. I even put my
5AT in neutral the other night to see if it would stall, NOPE
No stall. Just beautiful sounds and I do feel the extra HP/TQ

Re: Stillen Hi-Flow
Well, if you look at the dyno runs between the exhaust and intake installs, they are 2 days apart and at different times of the day. What was not listed on the chart was air temp and humidity percentage in the air. Both of these play a huge factor in power gains. I might also add that Dyno pits will not give you real world or accurate numbers with the way our stock and Stillen air boxes are designed. Our boxes work best when our cars are moving, allowing air to be forced into the intake. Forced air will always give more power than dead air. This is also why the Injen is prone to stalling issues. Air is not being pushed into the intake due to the location where the Injen filter cone sits. A better solution for Dynoing our car is to put it in a wind tunnel, and then we would see the real more exact numbers appear. It all make perfect sense to be honest.
As for the safety issues, I still see none and none are proven in the post. I carry my family in this car. If I ever thought a product was unsafe or unreliable, I would take it off immediately. Not to mention, I get 4 extra miles to the gallon. And this is proven.

Re: Stillen Hi-Flow
thats right. i did not see the difference in days between the dynos. if i had known, i would not have given the dyno any credit. excuse my "badmouthing" of the stillen product in that sense. as for stalling, it seems that some people are prone to stalling and others are not. i suppose the stalling incident may have been an isolated incident, but still, this creates a possibility of a safety issue that should be addressed by anyone carrying a family. perhaps the stillen product is completely safe. i apologize if i have offended anyone by badmouthing the product, however, i only wanted to point out that there have been posts regarding these issues and bring them to the potential buyer's attention. that is all. perhaps i will get a stillen myself so i can accurately add my .02

I don't see any problem with nuttyprof saying what he thought. We are all entitled to our own opinion of any product. He didn't say everyone agreed. In fact, he ended his post with "IMO".
Anyways, lets let this one drop. I don't think any ill will was intended.

Re: Stillen Hi-Flow
Nuttyprof, I did not feel offended by your post. You are entitled to your opinions. If there are problems with a certain product that alot of people bought that may be a safety issue, then they need to be brought up. I appreciate that, but the way you explained it was IMO a bit overblown. I did feel I had to defend. Everything is cool.
If you lived near Austin Texas, I would offer my Stillen to you for personal testing....But only if I get to try your Typhoon.

Re: Stillen Hi-Flow
Well, as per my original posting which turned into another fiasco, Is $225 the cheapest for the "HI-FLOW AIR BOX?" Also, it is my car and I intend to pursue this mod. I have read all the posts and have measured the good and bad and their seems to be no problem with the Stillen. I will however be anxiuos to see how the K&N turns out. Lets not get carried away guys, people are entitled to opinions, that is why it is a forum. Thanks for all the help though!
