HELP!!!header vibration!!!!!!

Hey guys...or gals
i just install crawford header and hf cats today, but when i accelerate or turn, i can feel the engine is vibrating.
the installation guy showed me that the header is almost attached the vent.(i would say more than 1 cm and less than 2 cm)
therefore, its the header caused the vibration (feel like metal is rubbing metal)

does anyone has this problem?

need help!!!!!!!!!

great thanks!!!

Hey bud, not sure if I know what you mean by "attached the vent", but there is almost NO room between the headers and the firewalls in the engine compartment. Some people recommend bending the AC line slightly to get it farther from the header, but I never had an issue with it. The headers and cats will make a decent amount of rasp, but if your block is actually vibrating more than ususal your shop most likely screwed something up with the engine mounts putting everything back together. Other than the rasp I had no more vibration than before. Let me know if this helps.

Disconnecting engine mounts for a header install + "Zero Room" between firewall = bad

Should have bought headers that fit right. Might want see if Doug will take them back so you can get some DC sports or Alphaworks.

Have heard plenty of issues with the Crawford HF cats rubbing on the heatshield too. Some people have solved it by beating it with a hammer. Again, I think I would just get some cats that fit right.

The headers do fit just fine, I had them on my car and have several friends who have had or still have them. Yes it is snug due to the diameter of the pipe, but in no way does it "not fit". Like I said, it sounds like the shop did not install properly for this to happen.

Kester, do you know if the shop used the instructions from Crawford, or did they just try to squeeze the headers in without lifting/tilting the engine block?

You will definitely hear rasp, especially when you jump on the throttle. Have you watched how close it gets (have someone rev it while you lok down at the side of the headers) under high rev?

Do you like the Alphaworks you have on the car now better than the Crawfords?

I would honestly say the Crawfords had a better sound but couldnt say about the power - they were on an 04 and the Alphas are on an 05. The 04 definitely pulled more, but I never had them dynod. I wanted to keep the Crawfords but got tired of asking my shops for favors on the install/uninstall because of the time involved.
