Thumbs down Just had headers installed........

Hello everyone, I'm one of the G35 drivers that doesn't post much but I can definitely say that I catch up on the site as often as I can and have gathered some good information about my car from all of you.

My brother and I opened up a car lot about 6 months ago so if you can imagine, I don't have as much time as I would like to post reply's on the forum. We specialize in import vehicles anywhere from $2,000.00 and up to about $12,000.00 or $15,000.00 price range. So if anyone is in the market for an A to B type car, let me know, there will be immediate price negotiations for any buyers reffered from g35driver.com!! You can visit our website @ www.tampabayautonetwork.com

Anyway, I've had my 5sp auto 03.5 coupe for a little over a year now. I plan on trading out of it when the warranty expires in May of 07 because I want a 6sp manual. In the meantime, I wanted to open it up a little bit so I installed a set of Ichiba headers. Since I want to trade out of it, I went down the less expensive route. My question is this........

In my passed experiences with installing headers on other vehicles, the upgrade was immediate, meaning that as soon as I started my car after the installation, the extra power, torque and more agressive sound was there. On my G, it seems like every 5 miles I drive, the car is opening up more and more. Have any of you had that same experience or was the difference noticable right away? BTW, sorry about the novel, I don't get to chat on here much so I guess I went a little crazy.

You may want to reset the ECU. This ECU likes to learn things.

It if from my experience and having been at some 350z/G35 dyno days that unless you are going forced induction, no one mod is going to give allot of power. Rather it will be through a combination of mods (try high flow cats and plenum) that you will notice a power difference other than sound.

The thing is that I am noticing a difference in power, it just wasn't right after the install. It's as if the headers needed to brake in or something. I'll reset the ECU and see if that helps some. I have the Injen CAI too which has been installed for a while now. High flow cats are definitely next.

The computer tends to remember what it considers best on the last run. Installing the headers allows for better breathing but the ECU doesn't know yet, so it slowly learns. I think if you reset it, it goes into learning mode and gathers info and then adjusts from there.

Ya, that makes sense, I'll reset it at some point in the day on Sunday. Thanks for the input!
