MD Spacer 1/4 mile runs Before and After coming soon....

So i just received my MD 5/16 spacer and it is bent....and I am assuming it shouldn't have the slight bend in it...could be wrong.

Should it, or did some dumbass in the fedex world ruin my weekend?

Should I try straightening it out or what....this sucks....

yep fedex ruined my weekend

Oh well, this may give me a chance to do what I original wanted to do anyway....track the car before and after to see if the 10 - 12 ponies can drop a tenth !

You must have all your variables tightly controlled. A tenth is so small. Seems like You would never really know unless you do several runs over time and see a trend.

Yeh, over in drag motorsports section I posted before runs already.

Im taking into account humidity, temp, alt, pressure to calculate the DA. Then im taking into account weight (gas in tank etc)

Im doing enough runs to get an avg and throwing out outliers. It wont be a perfect experiment....but it should at least provide some meaningful data.

And ofcourse if I have better launches in the after runs...that will factor into how much the spacer really did or if it was just me improving my driving.

Thanks for the explanation. I suspected you were a G veteran.
Anxious to see your results.

Haha
Im not a G veteran but I am an engineer, thus the scientific approach THanks for the compliment though!

My 60' times are horrible and im sure there are plenty of people here that could make my car run better than I did , 14.45, 97 (*corrected).

If I could get my 60' to 2.1 I would be a little more pleased with my driving

After looking at some more stuff I am almost positive it was my driving and not my car that performed poorly...my best trap of 97.7 calculates to 269hp at the fly...which in 80 degree temp and 70% humidity is probably what a stock engine should be making...the ET that went along with that was insulting though

Wouldn't you know it would be a fellow engineer asking the question?

so are you guys going to just rest the ECU by the pedal way or unplugging the battery?

im thinking about wiring up a switch to cut-off power to the ECU's memory
backup so it'll just reset itself while it sleeps during the week. i did this on
my 98 lude i had a while back with i/h/e vafc... worked great.

If you do the pedal method, make sure the battery is also disconnected or it will not work.
(and ignition ON).
The pedal method seems to work fine. Battery should be disconnected before you start working on the spacer anyway.
So I don't really see much advantage to wiring up a switch to the ECU. Just more things that could fail IMO.

Just in case you don't frequent the drag section of the forum....

the results of the MD spacer are in and I posted all of the numbers etc.

Basic conclusion added about 8hp (according to increased trap speed)

The full report is on the drag section...hopefully some people find it useful
