difference b/w test pipes and hfc
very noobie question... but...
what is the difference b/w hfc and tp... i looked at a pic of the coupes underbody and i can't tell where you would install both of them... or are they just interchangeable and its just preference which you want to buy and install...
what's the difference?

neither high flow cats nor test pipes are legal. you cant touch your stock cats until haver 80k miles or something.
high flow cats should not throw a CEL (check engine light), should not rasp, and have a possible chance at passing smog.
there are non resonated test pipes and resonated test pipes. of test pipes and high flow cats, test pipes will yield better gains. however, if you have an 04.5 or later g (i think that was the year) then you might throw a CEL, easily fixed with non foulers. non resonated test pipes are cheaper (in price) but will rasp like a ****. resonated test pipes are suppose to get rid of most rasp. ive heard the fast intention resonated test pipes eliminate all rasp. down side to test pipes is you will never pass smog, you will get a headache from the gas odor, and you might throw a CEL.
i myself opted for fast intentions high flow cats. mainly because theres a little more luxury at the cost of a few ponies. no gas odors, no non foulers, and a possible chance at passing smog.

: test pipes give you gains all throughout the range
: probably like 10-15whp
: from independant dynos
: imo, most g and z owners will suffice with the stock exhaust
: just change the cats and y-pipe and it's more than enough for most cars
with HFCs...
: you'll notice a power gain though, that's for sure
: i think mostly low end and little high end
^^all that is quoted from my friend at nismo
