u want to be real careful about puddles... if u want i'd look for an older 2 piece injen intake that way it can be converted from a long ram to a short ram intake rather easily...

if your cold air intake sucks in water, your engine is done for and warranty will not cover. Labor + new engine I'd say runs 15-20 G's. With cold air intake, the filter sucking in air is inside your bumper which is lower than your stock intake point, more prone to suck in water from puddles. Don't you know the stock intake is already very good and that the injen cold air is nothing but an instrument to make sound?

YES. AEM makes a bypass valve you can buy. My Injen pipe was too big for it though, so ask first.

What I know from experience is that you have to clean your Injen/AEM CAI filter more often than all the other ones. I just cleaned mine a couple of hours ago and it had alot of mudd on it . Guess that was because of all the water/dirt that splashes directly onto it. I could be wrong but boy it was a night and day difference when i cleaned it.

I would go for Stillen CAI. No need to worry about hydrolocking unless you plan on driving into a lake . Also the filter is right there so you have easy access to clean it. It was a pain to get to my filter

Spoke to the Stillen people today and he explained what is being discussed here to me. Glad to see it being discussed to confirm my beliefs. Stillen CAI and Ztube it is.

He did recommend going with a pulley for my next MOD instead of a spacer after installing the CAI and ztube. I should get some hp/tq gains with this combo MOD right?

Oh man, the Injen intakes on these VQ engines are soooo lovely, if your running stock exhaust, your going to hear that bad boy breath deep! You should definately be fine for now, but consider a step up on exhaust to unlock the potential the VQ has.

Thats always a down fall about CAI's, being that I live in Washington, it's a scary thought when venturing out into the rain. My friend has a Z28 Camero with a HUGE CAI, it sits pretty close to the ground (goes from top at intake down the front of the engine and comes close to the bottom engine shroud.
