the intake made it a bit louder also. no test pipes yet

Blitz SUS power intake + Z tube
Amuse ECU flash (Throttle opening changed only)
Y-pipe
straight mid pipe
and HKS rear

i dont know how loud it is without the cat, so didnt bother, cuz its already loud enough, ppl will think its a modded 350Z or some sort of sports car if they just hear it, but when they see the car, they will realize is some sedan lol

Are you an attorney? Where did you hear of this and what exactly does it say (I'm not asking because I'm worried...just asking to know & so others can know). The HKS isn't THAT loud (not as loud or throaty as a Mustang GT), so I don't think an HKS could get anyone a ticket....could it?

First off, the correct section is 375-31, not 375-40b as I originally stated... my bad.

New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law section VTL 375-31:

31. Mufflers and exhaust systems. Prevention of noise. Every motor
vehicle, operated or driven upon the highways of the state, shall at all
times be equipped with an adequate muffler and exhaust system in
constant operation and properly maintained to prevent any excessive or
unusual noise and no such muffler or exhaust system shall be equipped
with a cut-out, bypass, or similar device. No person shall modify the
muffler or exhaust system of a motor vehicle in a manner which will
amplify or increase the noise emitted by the motor or exhaust system of
such vehicle above that emitted by the muffler or exhaust system
originally installed on the vehicle and such original muffler
and
exhaust system shall comply with all the requirements of this section.
A muffler is a device consisting of a series of chambers or baffle
plates, or other mechanical design for the purpose of receiving exhaust
gas from an internal combustion engine, and effective in reducing noise.
An exhaust system is a series of mechanical devices for the purpose of
receiving exhaust gas from an internal combustion engine and expelling
it into the atmosphere.

Essentially ANY deviation from factory, DOT-certified equipment will qualify you for yellow paper.
The HKS isn't THAT loud (not as loud or throaty as a Mustang GT), so I don't think an HKS could get anyone a ticket....could it?
Yes, it could. A hole in a factory muffler could, and ANY aftermarket muffler that increases sound could.

Welcome to New York.

Damn!!! Glad I don't live in NY any more! Though I still wouldn't worry about it...it's no different than speeding....same risk involved IMO. If you speed smart...you won't get caught....

Honestly?....I now stick to Shell V-Power gas and I don't hammer the gas all the time. I actually like the sound of the HKS best between 2,500 and 5,000 RPM's, so I don't redline my car a lot & just shift manumatically usually. Though I do find my car quicker off the line while in "D".

Did you use that DIY I pointed you to yet?
