Aftermarket Exhaust & Factory Warranty

Does an aftermarket exhaust system (cat back specifically) void the car's factory warranty? This sounds crazy to me, but my friend told me he heard people were having problems!

as stated many many times..

"dealers cannot void your warranty unless they can prove the mod caused the problem"

though they will try to give you **** for it anyway

any aftermarket part can pretty much go onto a car...if your putting a TT or SC on there and engine blows....then they know it was because of the TT or SC... but putting test pipes or headers in will not help you pass smog....**** will fail all the time...i have a full cat back exhaust and i havent ran into problems yet....but if your car breaks down the dealership you bought it from might bitch at you for having an exhaust on it....but they sell aftermarket parts at infin. anyways...

I have a cat back and didnt have any trouble getting warrenty work as far as the rear axle clicking goes, but they said they couldn't do the fuel hose recall because they have to drop the muffler to do so and in my case they said they couldn't do that with the cat back I had. Dont know if that's true or or if they were just being difficult because I had aftermarket things on it.

Put it his way - the dealer will use anything they can to make you pay for something that may be under warranty if the car is no longer OE standard.

It doesn;t mattert if they sell and install the parts either - there are disclaimers you'll sign-off when that happens.

The dealer cannot do anything concerning the warranty, as the warranty is between you and Nissan.

The dealer is just a repair facilty with oem parts and a DIRECT BILL reimbursement from Nissan.

From experience they know what Nissan will pay for easily, [no preapproval required] and those failures that require you to persuade Nissan to pay.

Nissan has problems with dealers cheating [doing things they shouldn't] and trying to do too much for customer and charging Nissan.

On warranty repairs/recalls there is no profit on parts [they are replaced] and the warranty labor HOURS are less than customer paid hours.

Billing Nissan might be half-2/3rds the revenue of customer paid!

Absolutely... nothing more needed to be said here. Yes they will absolutely without a doubt give you a hassle, assuming that you know nothing about cars. If they can get out of one warranty deal they will trust me. Less warranty claims for the dealership = more money in their pocket.
