problem with water in CAI suggestions please

I got a CAI in my 03 g3 sadan, It sits right under the left headlight in the engine bay. What i didnt realize until today that water from rain might be around that area and might get sucked into the intake.
I opened the hood today after driving in the rain for 30 minutes or so and there is dropes of water i can see around the intake area, so im sure some water is geting into the intake. Anyone else has an intake in the same location with similar problems??? How bad is this?

Droplets of water won't do any harm. The harm will be done if your intake gets submerged in water and the intake sucks in a decent amount causing the engine to hydrolock. Droplets of water will just evaporate

Everyone w/ a CAI has it sitting in the same spot with the G . It won't be a problem unless you drive into a puddle big enough to submerge the filter and suck in a lot of water.

Dont worry about it. As long as you dont drive like a maniac when it rains you should be fine. The only time you will have a problem is like others said if you submerge the whole thing under water. If you are ever driving in rain and you have doubts about a puddle dont ever risk it and if you have to just drive very slow and keep your rpms below 2500 almost not pressing on the gas. If you are stll worried just get a by-pass valve, that will should work, at least it did for me. I know sleep better at night.

^^+1 bump for Tycoon...

It sounds like your worried about things that haven't happened yet, and from MANY sources and threads on this site, something you should worry about onky if the filter is submerged.

Do the valve - it'll give you peace of mind...

Rick
