change full intake system
I was talking to the infity dude and i was talking to them about getting the Z tube and he goes you must as well get the whole Z intake system and switch it to your G.
What do you guys think? Pros and Cons? BTW: i really like the sound the Z makes. They purr louder at idle and sound meaner at high revs. Is there anyways i can make my G sound like the Z or better simliar sound?
Thanks

Re: change full intake system
stillen intake box and z tube would probably be cheaper than the full z setup. you can make your own midpipe from metal tubing (ala injen CAI). Beyond that buy the crawford intake plenum and boom your intake will be flowing better than a stock G. Then go match a good exhaust system to it and you will have made up most of the difference in hp ratings. Throw in a technosquare ECU update and you will have surpassed a stock G.
Total expenditure:2300.00 nets around a 20 hp increase depending on if you have a sedan or coupe
Throw in some crawford or Z headers and you will have a 300+ crank hp monster
INFINITI IS SPELLED INFINITI NOT INFINITY OR INFITY OR INFANTY OR ANY OTHER WAY. PLEASE SPELL THE NAME OF YOUR CAR CORRECTLY. YOU ARE LUCKY IT IS NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO SPELL THE MODEL INCORRECTLY. okay rant (caps lock) off

Re: change full intake system
I was in a rush so i typed some typo.... no need to get all panties in a bunch. I never knew spelling INFINITI wrong can make a person go so crazy.
Anyhow, stillen intake box and Z tube would be better than a stock Z intake setup? Can you tell me how so? Sorry if this questions sound stupid, but it a G, all the damn parts cost so much money.... im trying to get the best bang for the buck along with the sound i like. Im more concerned with the sound more so than speed. I have the power i need. I love the sound the Z makes.

Re: change full intake system
If you want sound on the cheap, try just the Z tube first and keep the stock G35 airbox.

Re: change full intake system
I suspect the infity (Infiniti?) dude hasn't looked very closely at one or both cars. The 350Z Air Cleaner Case (air box) may fit the G35. However, the Z's air case intake would be blocked by the G35s radiator support assembly as well as the two AC lines.

*snicker* He said "panties"
Ryoken has an excellent suggestion here...Keep the stock airbox and see what you think...And it gives you a good reason to not use Stillen...
*had to get my anti-Stillen remark in there somehow...

Re: change full intake system
Does anyone know if there is a sound clip comparision between the G stock intake and with a Z tube intake?

if your more into sound then performance, try going with no filter. You might actually get a little more pull, the sound might also be to your liking. You can also take off your exhaust or punch holes in it. If you want the blowoff sound theres a thread about an electric blow off sound maker.

The stock G and Z airboxes are basically the same design, only shaped slightly differently to fit the car. You wouldnt benefit from trying to use the Z box. Go for the stillen hi flo, z tube combo. I have it, and you can find 30 other G owners who have it and love it, on this forum. Some say to just use a K&N drop in, but I personaly love the look and whistling sound of the K&N cone filter that comes with the Stillen Hi flo myself. Do a search and you can find pics of the setup.

it depends on the air quality your driving in. It wouldn't be too good to go without a filter driving through some sand dunes. You'll feel a difference in the car though and sound difference.

Check my DIY post for the 350z sound bite. If you don't have the Z, you can go to the garage and listen in person.

Yes, running no filter is bad......He's pulling your chain bro...lol
Actually I'm thinking of adding the Stillen to my Z-tube setup on my Coupe. As '3Point5' says, it's prolly cheaper than factory (high priced) parts and will yield more power than a stock system.
