INJEN CAI real gains

Re: INJEN CAI real gains
Yes it is... Manufacturers usually exaggerate their HP gains. This 12.2 is probably from the WORST run they could make on the car with the best run they can possibly do. Subtracting from there....

That isn't necessarily true. It is entirely possible that the new intake showed a 12.2 hp improvement - somewhere in the rpm range. Nowhere in the advertisement does it say the intake increased the peak power by a certain hp, just that it showed a horsepower increase somewhere. The manufactureres want you to think that the increase is at the power peak, making the G35's crank hp 292 hp - but they do not actually say so. The lower restriction intake may have given a 5 hp increase at peak power rpm, but a 12.2 hp increase at redline....
[ An example: the K&N FIPK for the Dodge Dakota R/T gave numerous independent dyno increases of 8-12 hp, so it is possible for an intake to make this kind of power depending on how poor the OEM system really is. ]
It is of course possible that the advertisement is a complete lie - but it is just a possible that the results reported are 100% true - but not exactly what you assume they actually are. Caveat emptor.
Edited by Fluid on 11/15/03 08:07 PM.
