Do I Need High Flow Cats?
Guys,
I am just looking for some opinions before I go ahead and order these crawford cats. They just got a new shipment in (website says out of stock...FYI) So I am about to hop on a pair of these.
First question: Do I need a tune if I combine these cats with an aftermarket exhaust set up? I am currently running the Stillen True Dual.
Second question: Is it worth the $500 for any type of performance gain if I intend on staying N.A. for at least a year?
Third question: How much louder will this get? I am quite satisfied with the tone/sound/performance gains of my Stillen.
Finally, I am running the K&N drop in filter, Z-Tube, 5/16" spacer, and the cat-back.
Am I pouring perfume on a pig, or will I see real world performance gain out of this set-up?
Thanks alot for all your replies.

go ahead & get them. I definately felt a mid-range gain with my FI cats (butt dyno) but best of all it opened up my exhaust quite nicely. as far as tuning it always helps to tune to help tie everything together but If you still have more modding to do I would wait. Im tuning in the spring once I get my mrev2 & 5/16" spacer put on

You will definitely feel a performance gain, and if you are planning on eventually going forced induction, then yes hi flow cats are a must. The great thing about them is that you will still be street legal compared to just running test pipes. You won't need to re-tune until you go FI, but if you decided to it would more than likely help alot considering the other mods you are running. Definitely expect you exhaust to sound deeper. Good luck.
Looking at your mods, I would do it. The VQ is really choked off at the exhaust end. Seeing how you opened up the intake side, you should do the same to the exhaust side. You'll get some gains but not as much as the website says. After that if you want, and especially if you're going FI, get it tuned by re flash or Utec.

Yea Cal,
I don't know why, but I got more responses from the Intake and Exhaust section, even though WAYYYY more people view THIS forum.
Thought I would get more opinions than this......?????

I had the crawford cats, the exhaust note got deeper, and the butt dyno checked out
I currently have them off cause one of the brackets broke when I hit a speed bump too hard. Gonna have them replaced this spring, crawfords!!!
