how/why does this tube increase RWHP???

 

Im too lazy to explain but if you do a search you will see dozens of threads regaurding the tube. I personally got the tube for the sound. People have said you get a 5hp gain but at 5hp gain i doubt you would feel any gain during your drive. Lots of people have gotten it and they gave their highest rating.... maybe one of the most popular mod so far

 

A search will turn up a picture comparison, but the Z tube is a nice smooth, straight-through design. The G35 tube has an ugly resonator in the middle of it to make things a little quieter. This can only hurt flow.

That's the info I was looking for.

 

Having the Z-tube reduces turbulence in the inlet thereby smoothing the inlet charge. Someone posted a dyno recently showing a 5 hp, 4 ft lbs increase. This along with a nice deep tone to the breathing and exhaust.
An excellent mod that's cheap.

If i get the Nismo CAI(if it fits SEdans. Does it?) Should i not bother with the Z tube??

 

yes.. if you get any CAI, don't bother with the z-tube.. get the z pipe only if you're gonna stay with the stock intake or the stillen..

forgot to add this too.. u don't have to pay 70+ for the z-tube.. like i've said in the billions of posts about the z pipe, jus try posting on the Private Classifieds on the My350Z.com site.. there are plenty of 350 drivers out there who have upgraded to injen, etc. and have no use for the pipe.. i've seen a perfectly fine used one sell for 40-50 shipped..

not that I expected it to be less but the local dealer quoted me 102.00. The 70.00 is still a deal in comparison.

 

As far as I know some Z owners in my350Z.com were asking for 80+ bucks for their used tubes...

I guess it's a supply vs. demand thing...

So for now... 70 bucks is actually a pretty good deal for a new one.

is the z tube easily to install, how long does it take, just making sure i dont waste money on this thing only to find out that when i purchase a cold air intake like stillen or injen that i wont be able to use the z tube anymore.

for those of you who have it installed on a stock g35c, does it make a difference in terms of sound and hp?

 

You should NOT get this if you are planning on getting a intake other than the stillen cold air box. This is just the stock pipe from the 350Z and if you get an aftermarket full cold air intake like the injen or nismo, then this z tube will be replaced by the other intake.
