Plenum(s)

So what's the difference between the plenum offered on StrictlyZ $450 and the one offered by Crawford $1100

I always thought they were the same until i realized that Strictly Z's plenum was the polished one for $450 and that it doesn't say "Crawford". Thoughts / opinions?

thanks, ted

Re: Plenum(s)

My friend....

The Strictly Z plenum is simply the polished STOCK plenum. It is not modified (i.e built up) like the crawford plenum. It's only for looks... not performance

Re: Plenum(s)

Also crawford offers 2. One is the modified one, pretty crude looking for 450 or 500 now and the 1100 is the modified one with polish finish on it, bling bling.

Re: Plenum(s)

yeah Strictly Z's is simply the stock one chromed. They also sell the Crawdford one that is not chromed but the one u are looking at is simply one for looks. The Crawford one is there modified plenum but it is chromed. Hope that helps

Re: Plenum(s)

This is the one you want bro, unless you want the bling bling one (too much $$): Cost-- $500 + you return the stock plenum
or pay another $200 (like I did)

Re: Plenum(s)

I figured that was the case. I'm gonna go with Crawford (duh!), but I was just wondering if Strictly Z had a competitor in its line.

Wait til you see what I'm gonna do with the Crawford!

They are $450 now. I am going to order one tomorrow. It's going to be worth it right?

Yes, most if not all that got it will tell you it will be worth it, me included.

Re: Plenum(s)

SkylineGT, Sounds like it's down to $450 now . But at that price you must return the stock plenum, or pay an additional $200.
This mod is way worth it.

Get it, you wont be dissapointed. I've had mine for 4 months now (boy, time flies) and couldn't be happier. It's still the best bang for the buck mod out there.

Re: Plenum(s)

I don't know if I still know exactly what to expect from the performance of this plenum. I have heard I could get about 19hp out of it from 5500rpm-redline. So, once I hit 5500rpm will I all of a sudden get a power boost? Or does the power gradually increase up to 19hp at 5500rpm? I have my car grounded and I have noticed that I am getting more power at the lower rpms and less at the higher rpms than what I had before. Would a grounding kit help me toI be able to tap into the benefits of a performance plenum a little earlier?

Re: Plenum(s)

Forgive my ignorance but what is the plenum and what exactly does it do? What are the gains of having it modified?

Re: Plenum(s)

Here's the link to Crawford's website: Crawford Plenum

This device helps distribute air more evenly to all cylinders. The OEM plenum restricts the front 2.
A conservative estimate of a 10-15 hp gain is realized in the upper rpm range.
