CAI question
CAI question
I'm considering getting either the Nismo or Injen CAI. What are everyone's experience with this mod? I've heard idle problems and what not. Does it change the sound at all, can you feel any performance gains out of it? Thanks for any info.
Re: CAI question
I've had no problems whatsoever with the Nismo. No stalling, gurgling, popping, or anything like that. The sound is awesome, you can find a complete install guide here:
Nismo Intake Install Guide
It has audio clips before and after, as well as a drive-by video so you can hear the sound under load (its great).

Re: CAI question
Several aftermarket intake systems have reported the problems that you mentinon. It is important to do a ECU reset once you've installed any intake and allow the ECU time to learn and adjust to that new system. During that time you may encounter some of those problems, just give the ECU some more time to adjust. I have the Injen, love the sound it makes at around 4.5K to redline at WOT. I noticed modest gains from it. Mine has never had any running problems, ever since the very first RPM since the install. The Nismo CAI is made by AEM, you may want to weigh it's price against any possible benefits that the Nismo CAI may or may not provide you warranty wise in price shoppig the AEM CAI vs the Nismo.
