thanks for the picture. So will it not work as good without allowing the air to feed in ? Should I worry about making the hole ?

Well, as well as the hole, the heat shield also comes with that rubber shield and gasket that attaches to the hole on the shield and fits over the end of the plastic air scoop.

Thanks for the responses but I'm still unclear as in what happens using the 350z heatshield which basically blocks the air scoop ?

This is my opinion. The 350Z has outside air coming from the front of the filter. The G35 has outside air coming from the front of the radiator to the left of the filter. IMO, if you put the 350Z heatshield on, you will not be getting any outside air, just hot underhood air. Again, this is my opinion, for what it's worth.

I also bought a popcharger from a 350z member but I didn't get the shield and I haven't had any problems.

I just bought one off a 350z member as well and didn't realize this until now. I was wondering if i can just cut a hole in the heatsheild and then extend a peice of rubber to equal the diameter of the front air duct on the right side to feed the air to the popcharger?
