My PopCharger has been Popped!!

Ok.. Here is the story.. I was taking my car to the dealer cause I wanted them to look at my gas gauge.. And I noticed that it was idling weird.. So I was like what the heck.. I asked them to look at my gas gauge and my idling cause my car feels like it's gonna die.. So they say cool.. I wait there for about 2 hours, they say everything was fixed.. So I say cool.. And drove home.. And today I noticed that it was still idling weird.. So I opened my hood.. And this is what I found..

HAHA.. I think I have been driving like this for about an 200 miles.. Hopefully nothing has went into the engine.. Da#n.. Anyway.. I put my stock intake back on.. So hopefully my idling will be normal now.. Lol.. Has this ever happened to anyone??

How can u forget to tighten the most important part of the intake? That metal clamp has to be very tight!

BTW i think a lot of things have gone into ur engine.

So the dealership didn't notice your intake filter was not attached?

I'd suggest changing the oil immediately and monitoring the oil level for about a month or so. If the oil level behaves like it normally has, little or no consumption, then you're most likely fine. Since you live in Cali, the chances of the motor ingesting anything terribly dangerous is pretty low. Now if you live in an area that is sandy, then I'd be a little worried. I know the 03 G35s have screens in the MAF which is somewhat of a safe guard, but I don't believe the later cars had the screen.

i'd say no compression test needed if the oil change does not demonstrate any shavings or debris - use a magnet. you could also send the oil for analysis if you wanted to be thorough and keep it cheap.

Wow...thats a bummer. Guess you'll never know if the Dealer was under your hood and did that or not.
Yeah, make sure it's tight next time and oil change for sure. Might want to clean your MAF too.
Bakersfield kinda dusty out there. Least it wasn't 2000 miles until you noticed. You'll probably be okay unless you were driving in some dust storms.
Keep an eye out for any oil consumption more so than normal, if any. If so, then some damage done.

BTW, never had that happen to my pop charger filter. Had mine for 15K miles now.
