Got my HKS installed for the coupe got a question.
I finally got the HKS installed, overall it's going to take some getting use to.. but I like it.. the tips are still a little big for my likings - but i think i'll grow to like it.
It's def louder, i hear a bit of drone at higher speeds, but nothing annoying.
Question is, I remember you people saying you lose down low, gain up top.
I def feel the lose down low, some people said you can't feel the diff.
I feel it espically if im crusing and i need a little umph.. just to get say pass a yellow light or something.
It feels alot slower.. like a half a second lag or something before it kicks in.. all i hear is noise..
Where as the stock if i did the same thing it would easily get me up to the speed i need.
Any other HKS owners experience this problem and anything i can do to fix it?
Do i need more air flow or something?
Would the popcharger/ztube help in anyway with the HKS.. ?
I miss that downlow power espically if i'm in 4th gear crusing at 60kmhs.. i think that's like 40mphs, and i just want to get it to 70kmhs.. so like 46ish... or so.. mphs... it's alot slower, feels like lag.
Where as stock it felt alot better.

Yes... You do loose just a tad down low. I remember when I first got my HKS I felt the same thing. You will get used to it and learn how to compensate for it as well.... Get a Plenum spacer / Crawford Plenum, that will help and get you a bit more umph... A Cold Air Intake does not do a whole heck of a lot for you.
I love the sound of my HKS and the droan at crusing speeds is not bad at all. I do not even notice it anymore... If you really want to "USE" that exhaust get a TT or a SC
The reason you lost a bit is you have less backpressure and the HKS breaths alot better than the stock.

Nah... You will be fine... Let the ECU get used to it for a bit... or if you have the time disconect your battery for 12hrs to re-set the ECU so it can adjust to your new mod.
You definately will gain up top power.
You definately will gain up top power.

Spacer should help all across the power band actually...
Disconnect the battery and get some sleep... 12 hr disconect and then take her for a ride and see how she responds

I have all the mods listed above, and i still lack the umph.
The fact of the matter is if you have a true dual cat back exhaust, you are going to lose some down-low, but also makeup for it by gaining it at the top.
Almost redline the car and you will know what i am talking about

well, there are always tradeoffs involved in buying mods, specially the ones for looks.
exhausts by no means provides performance, its mostly for looks and sound. gains are almost negligible.
same thing with 20 in rims, certainly make your car look nicer, but makes way for a more sturdier, rougher ride.
i wouldnt want to go back to stock for sure!

Dude, total placebo imo. i thought the same thing, even about the tips. Are they too big? Am i losing low rpm tq? Is this exactly how i want my G to sound? Then after about 500 miles it broke in and that small amount of drone you may experience disappears after that break in period. the sound is decieving thinking you may have lost a bit of tq, but barely noticeable. you will love it, trust us.
