JWT Pop/z-tube or Stillen high flow/z-tube

What combination offers the greatest performance and sound? I can't decide between the two combinations. The Pop Charger is much cheaper than the Stillen high flow but I don't to get into the "you get what you pay for." Based on what I've read, the two combinations offer roughly the same rwhp but I want to hear from people that actually have one of the two or have knowledge of them.

They're essentially the same basic CAI. Stillen's comes with a heat shield made specifically for the G35. JWT offers an optional heat shield for the 350Z... haven't seen one for the G35s. IMO, no heat shield = a HAI (hot air induction) system.

Loren04Coupe,

Are we talking about the same car? I've inspected the headlight and fender area as well as the radiator core support looking for any substantial air openings. I've struck out. Haven't been able to identify an opening that will allow JWT's Popcharger to pull "extra air from the fornt bumper via behind the head light". I also haven't found the Stillen restriction and the opening in the fender --- "... in that it can't get enought air from the scoupe, so it takes it from the fender." Can you provide pictures of these openings?

Here's a picture of the Stillen heat shield and velocity ring. I had the assembly off the car to clean the K&N air filter.

Re: JWT Pop/z-tube or Stillen high flow/z-tube

The Stillen Cold Air Box (not CAI) reuses the OEM ram-air ducting and adds a total enclosure around a new conical filter. If you look at the G35 JWT PC w/ heat shield below, the filter end terminates underhood. Even with the new heat shield, it is still semi-open which means a higher propensity to draw warm air. So, in theory, by design the Stillen should draw cooler air. Whether that translates into a better product, or provides any superior performance benefit, has been discussed to death. Any gains form these products seem to fall into the realm of dyno margin-of-error. Flip a coin.

You're right. Not being a fan of Stillen, I would never buy one of their products, just out of principal. I thought my intake was all set, K&N filter, "Z" tube and the Crawford. PopChargers didn't look that good to me. However, with their new design heat shield that seals against the hood, I just bought one. It should be here next week. I'll let you know what I think.

Doug,

Thanks for the Popcharger/heat shield picture. I hadn't seen the G35 version until now. For clarity, don't both units retain the stock air duct unless you decide to change it out?

I basically agree with your comments. Stillen's heat shield may be a little better but I prefer JWT's air filter design. Looks like a toss up to me. They're essentially the same unit.

I'm very happy with my JWT/Z-tube. I'm now waiting for that plastic plenum to be developed. That might be my next mod.

Anyone have picks of the new heat box for the Pop charger, the one that looks like the Stillen?
