Running Lean with mods

So I have Motordyne ISO Thermal MREV, FI 300Cell Metallic Cats, Strup Headers, and FI Intimidator Exhaust (on the way) – should I be concerned about running to lean. Will the ECU compensate?

You should be find at the moment. However, just to be on the safe side, I would put your car on the dyno and get a AFR reading after you install the new exhaust set-up.

I had a similar setup prior to reflash and I was in the mid-14's for air/fuel. Not dangerously lean, but not optimal for power. I could also hear the tell-tale signs of leanness on decel in the exhaust popping etc. Technosquare took my dyno printout and dialed it right in at 13.2 Runs strong as hell now and just a smooth rumble upon decel with not a sign of popping or backfire.

I would say that you are running lean. Should look into a piggy back system of some kind...

Once the COBB access port comes out, I'll be getting that. Sounds like a great device.

For now, will the stock ECU compensate (for safety)?

Yes. But I would say you are at the fuel limit now. As long as you are not throwing a SES light, you're OK. Just not making as many ponies as you should for the mods you have.

You will be at the limit of safe with that set-up.

I would pick up a used Unichip or Utec from a member and get a re-tune. Not only will you gain some power but it will be safer.

Thanks Guys. Ya think it's worth waiting for the COBB Accessport or just get a Unichip?

Don't know enough on the COBB unit. I am always a fan of the dyno tune for your exact car and the Unichip will give you that. Maybe the COBB will too?

I assume you will have to. Cobb is a upload device. So someone will need to generate a map after seeing what the customer's ign / a-f ratios are and upload them. Dyno tune is the only way.

I suppose you could tune it on your own if Cobb releases their tuner but I think that might be a dealer only feature.

Ahhh...decisions…decisions....well for now I'm waiting for the Fast Intentions Exhaust to hit my doorstep (WOOT!), while I’m enjoying that I'll keep researching and maybe in a few months and a few more dollars I’ll make a decision. Thanks for all the info
