GruppeM websites:

http://www.gruppemna.com
http://www.gruppem.co.jp

I just don't have knowledge and time to learn how to remove bumper. So probably I will wait till my Fujitsubo cat-back arrive (FedEX is slow....), then I will bring my car to dealer to install everything and, of course, dyno afterward. Re: My GruppeM intake finally arrived!

well the gruppe m is carbon kevlar, so in theory it could be lighter then say, the stillen cold air, because the stillen coldair has additional piping like the gruppe m does (in that duct to the front bumper)... however, compared to the stillen high flow box or something, i doubt the gruppe m is lighter, but will probably see more gains then the stillen high flow box... but i dont see why it would make more hp then a jwt pop or any cold air intake... i mean, an intake can only do so much, the intake system on the g and z's is already really well designed...

and, as for the guy who bought this stuff... you seem to be buying some top quality jdm parts... i give you props for your patience... but you might want to try considering spending some of that money on lesser expensive parts (jdm or usdm) and you will see good gains for a lot less money. for that gruppe-m intake plus install (figure 100 bucks to pay a shop), you could have gotten a full catback exhaust installed on your coupe... say a blitz dual catback... still jdm, still high quality... but... not rediculously overpriced like gruppe-m stuff... just my .02 ... =)

Re: My GruppeM intake finally arrived!

Just installed the GruppeM today, but didn't have chance to check its performance yet (-20 degree celcius here in Toronto + icy road). Anyways, here are the pics. Enjoy

Little O/T.......
I got a Borla cat-back installed before, but I decided to sell it, and now my Fujitsubo is on the way home. In my point of view, if i have to get something which I am not sure how it can perform (even I've heard lots of good reviews about Borla) in order to save some money, I may lose more at the end. Now I've picked Fujitsubo because I've heard them on a 350z in person, and fall in love with it. So even it is little pricey, I still decided to get my new cat-back.

I have GruppeM installed on my 330ci before, and I am impressed on its performance. That's why I chose to get GruppeM again (and got it from RENN-Sport again).

Sorry, but i really dont see how that design is any better than our current design...if anything, it looks a lot more restrictive than what we currently have.

I could be wrong though. What are your impressions of the performance of that intake? A sound clip and a dyno would be sweet!

Re: My GruppeM intake finally arrived!

Just tried it out this morning. My first impression, the thing is LOUD. It sound like stock under 4000rpm, but it starting to roar at 4000-5000rpm. Then after 5000rpm, you will only able to hear the intake, but not our stock exhaust note. And about performance.....definitely there is some improvement, but due to temperature and road condition, my G just lose grip after 4000rpm even in 2nd gear, so my butt dyno doesn't work.

About GruppeM design, it is similar to Stillen and JWT pop-charger. But GruppeM use k&n filter, has a better heat shield, extra pipeing to get more cold air from lower front bumper. So it have the advantage of both CAI and Short-Ram.

Re: My GruppeM intake finally arrived!

looks great. i am also considering that same set up as you. I have a few questions though. how does the piping work on it? does that flexible tube go sright down to the front bumber opening? can u post a pic of the bumper so i can so how it gets air from down there thanks. It looks great though except u need to clean ur engine bay it looks a little dirty

Re: My GruppeM intake finally arrived!

The Stillen I received came with a K&N. And even if you order one that says "Stillen" on it, it's sitll made by K&N.

Re: My GruppeM intake finally arrived!

It doesn't quite have the advantages of the CAI. It does get cooler air, like the CAI, in a way the stock one and other high flow setups do too though. CAI's actually gain power by resonance tuning, and the length, diameter and MAF placement all affect power gains with a CAI. This unfortunately doesn't have those gains, due to the design, but it sure looks VERY nice!
