5/16" ISO Thermal Plenum Spacer vs. 5/16" Basic Plenum Spacer
5/16" ISO Thermal Plenum Spacer vs. 5/16" Basic Plenum Spacer
I've searched and I still don't know what is the difference between the 5/16" ISO Thermal Plenum Spacer vs. 5/16" Basic Plenum Spacer. I know both adds 11hp to 13hp and the engine cover easily fits and never needs to be cut as per the Motordyne website. The ISO Thermal includes the Iso Thermal components, Aramid gasket and CCV. What do they do?
Can anyone help and explain?

The Iso-thermal spacer package includes a gasket to place between the lower plenum and the intake manifold. This gasket inhibits heat transfer from the lower manifold to the upper plenum. The Iso-thermal kit also includes the coolant control valve. Earlier plenum spacers were sold before Tony developed the Iso-thermal kit. I bought the 5/8 inch spacer in a GB. Then Tony offered the Iso-thermal upgrade. Today his kits come with the iso-thermal package.
Infiniti decided to route the radiator coolant through the plenum to keep the throttle body from freezing in cold weather. The coolant control valve allows you to shut it off. I live in Texas and don't need my TB any warmer than it already is! The gasket helps prevent heat soaking of the plenum. The package is designed to allow the VQ to run cooler.

cato, thanks for the really helpful information.
I have two questions.
How hard is it to turn on and off the coolant control valve? And, since I live in Canada which one should I get the Iso-Thermal or Basic?
