Ok, im deciding between either an AEM cold air intake w/ bypass valve OR a plenum spacer. I can get both for roughly around the same price.



For the spacer i was deciding between the Motordyne 5/16 or one from Altered Atmosphere. I ran into some guy at a shop i go to and he said AA out perfroms the others...not sure if it was BS or not tho. Also would i be able to install myself? (i have little to no experience...all ive done in the past has been an intake on an IS300)

If you have an 05+ with manual tranny, then the spacer will do you no good. The intake works fine with this motor, but the MREV2 will be a much better mod to do overall.

i hav an 07 6mt. I want to do the spacer first since its cheaper. Its gonna be the first performance mod to the car. Do you think a newbie can do installation?

i wouldnt need a lift or anything right?

As long as you're carefull not to overtorque the bolts, you should be fine. But I do suggest you getting a torque wrench for this.

As for the spacer, do a little more research. The spacer won't make any power on your motor. But the MREV2 will make more torque than any other mod available in that price range for your car.

i was reading up tho that the spacer would up the hp 11-13 and torque i dont remember the numbers. the MREV2 is the next mod along with an intake.

The spacer won't make that much power for your motor

Get the MREV2 first, then get a spacer, then get an intake. You will get the best gains from the mrev and spacer. I put the spacer on the car myself and it wasnt that bad, you just need to get an inch/lb torque wrench.

Ok, you have an '07 there's one person that can give you the first hand
information you're looking for. Call Tony at MotorDyne 1-661-993-5111.
I believe they have a kit that contains the MREV2 and the 5/16" spacer
which will give you a minimum of 21 HP & 28 LB TQ possibly more. This mod
could be the most effective you could make other than FI.....worth every
dime spent! Spacers from other companys are worthless, just copies of
MotorDynes designs. (bad copies)

When Tony first introduced his MD plenum spacers for the G35 . . . People were afforded with a nice power gain. This held true for model years '03 to '04. At the time, the new '05 G35's equipped with the 5AT also benefited from the same. However, the '05 G35's equipped with the 6MT realized no gains and even a bit of a loss in some cases.

Apparently, Tony realized that the engines of the '05's w/6MT utilized a lower collector with a slightly different configuration, among other items . . . And as such, the plenum spacers had no effect on them. This holds true for the '06 and '07 models equipped with the 6MT. These engines have become to be know as the RevUp. The RevUp engine lower collectors allowed less air into the front 2 intake runners/openings, whereas the non RevUp engines allowed for more air to be induced.

Understanding the above, Tony employed the non RevUp engine's lower collector in combination with a plenum spacer and was met with a nice surprise . . . . It worked! He had found a solution for the newer G's with the newer RevUp engine. Thus, the original MD MREV was introduced for G's with the RevUp engine. Very shortly after that, the MREV+ was introduced. Sometime later, the current MREV2 was introduced.
